I've been having a look around and cant find anything particularly recent as to whether or not it is safe to play online with Luma. I currently only have Luma installed on my old OG 3DS XL with no Nintendo account linked to it at all. I would like it on my New 3DS XL, however I have a number of games purchased from the E-shop on both 3DS and Wii U I wouldn't want to lose access too, plus while I dont do it often I dont want to lose the option to play online or download game updates/DLC.

A follow up question. If for whatever reason they become able to detect it, what does the ban include? I'm really not all that bothered if I lose the ability the play online as I play almost entirely SP. However I would hate to lose my E-Shop purchases. Also would it include other consoles? If I got a 3DS banned, would a switch I buy in the future work fine online with my existing Nintendo account?

It gives an error code that most of the time is "Error Code: 002-0102" or "Error Code: 022-2812" in some cases. Most bans disallow you from accessing online features like gameplay, friends list, eShop, etc. Some cases only allow you access the eShop and nothing else. There are methods of lifting each ban and most of the time just involves getting a non-banned friendseed.

I would like to add that there's always a risk of getting banned when dealing with homebrews. At the same time it's easier to get unbanned when your system is hacked verse when your system isn't hacked. So keeping your system hacked ironically makes it safer as you can just unban yourself if you ever need to.

apparently there are different types of bans; but at least one person says they were banned on 3ds but not on wii u. Could be alright; but you never know what nintendo might do in the future.

you can go to eshop, but if you have illegal/unsigned dlc, it will be deleted when you'll go to eshop

Yeah I just read about that. Tbh its not really a problem as I don't go there very often anyway. My main concern is losing access to the account on other non hacked devices in the future.

DLC only gets deleted if you have already purchased DLC legitimately from the eshop before.
i have never purchased dlc from the eshop, so,
my dlc stays when i go into the eshop

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
The 2006 versión was made when the flash portal was made
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Many people thought it was lost, but was discovered that he hid it on the same page.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's been there for a long time, too. People who search for lost media don't look hard enough lmao.

@SylverReZ, also the pico 2 demos used to be only for the newgrounds patrons but they are on internet archive too (https://archive.org/download/picos_school_2)

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Iirc the demos were removed from newgrounds in 2022
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, or well only the demo with mindchamber's style was on newgrounds

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Fun fact @SylverReZ: iirc one of the goals on the fnf Kickstarter stated that pico 2 would be finished but the Kickstarter didnt get enough money for that goal to be fullfiled
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, FNF sucks, their community is toxic as hell.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@SylverReZ its a single player game
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, Yea but it has a shitton of mods with their own songs and stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, and quite a lot of people involved in those mods get cancelled
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Newgrounds wasn't the birth of FNF; rather, it was games where you beat up celebrities and parodies.
