I was at school for a band camp thing and I decided to log into the WiFi via my iPod Touch 4.

I always check a couple sites to keep myself posted and to my amazement, GBATemp was blocked.

It wasn't before. I mean I don't use it all the time during school hours but I do on days important to tech junkies like me, such as WWDC or E3 or GDC or something.

It always gives a reason why the site was blocked and it did not say piracy, said gaming, which is good.

I'll miss you guys at school but thats what I have a home desktop for I guess. No Temp during school hours.

That sucks. My school hasn't blocked it yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was in the filter by the time I went back this coming year.

I started getting copyright violation warnings a few weeks ago when accessing my college's network portal at home. At first I couldn't understand why this was happening since I've never done anything piracy related with the school. Then it dawned on me what might have happened.

Once I tested logging my 3DS into the campuses' Wifi network by visiting GBAtemp. I suppose I started getting those warnings because the 'temp is on some sort of AP watch list. That's my theory anyway, I don't have any other explanation other than a mere coincidence.

I remember back when i was at school all we had to do was find a non-blocked website which could load other websites within it (Google translate was a good pick) and you could get past all blocks

At college i loaded Firefox from a USB drive and used a proxy server.

At work nothing is blocked, but the admins can see what sites you've visited (but as they seem to only ever play table tennis and pcsx2 i doubt that is a problem)

My school has always blocked GBATemp because it relates to "gaming", as with IGN and other sites.

Technology sites like Tom's Hardware and Overclock.net are ok though.

Proxies, find one that's not blocked (join a mailing list) then you'll get them before the school blocks them, and most times if you use the secure connection (https) they won't have blocked it. Well at least my school's like that.

I loled

Anyway, my school has always blocked the temp AFAIK. It's blocked due to being a "Gaming" site.

my school filters anything to do with hacking, gaming, and profanity but suprisingly the EOF is the only part of gbatemp that isn't blocked

Reminds me of the time when my school's firewall malfunctioned, leaving sites like YouTube and my friend's favorite porn site, while still keeping stuff like Facebook under locks. They eventually got a new firewall that worked better.
On another note, I actually managed to download the Japanese Pokémon Black ROM at school within hours of it being released. Just because I have a DStwo. IIRC I used the Google Cache of GBAtemp to find the ROM, and waited more than an hour for it. It was totally worth it though, played it (with joy) on the way home.
