Got a switch with a non working rail here. I have ordered another rail but how hard is it to fit. The zif ribbon seems small. Any tips on getting it in without damaging it.

Many thanks to anyone who can help

Mine also failed, it was pretty easy to get out and put a new one in though. Just make sure you lift up the clamp before pulling it out, and use tweezers to make your life easier (or don't).

Also be very careful that you don't strip any screws, they are like butter.

Kinda unrelated note, but did yours fail out of the box or several months later? I’ve had my switch since day one and my rails are fine.

Sort of misused the term I guess. I broke it when trying to figure out why my JoyCon was having issues connecting because I didn't lookup a teardown beforehand and assumed the ribbon connected to the rail itself was a snap on.

It was not.
