So I'm going to be getting a New 3DS when they come out in NA, and I wanted to know if there is any way for me to do a system transfer from my 3DS XL on 9.2.0.0-20 to the New 3DS without having to update my 3DS XL. If possible I'd like to not have to buy a gateway to achieve this but if I have to, I will.

I would also love to know the details on this since I will be planning on doing the same thing. I figured, from just reading directions on transferring your games ect, you wouldn't have to update to do this.

Could you elaborate a little bit on how this whole process works?

Since emuNAND is basically a copy of your 3DS's sysNAND, when you system transfer while being on emuNAND, the copied information in emuNAND and your eShop information will be sent over to the New3DS. Your old 3DS's sysNAND is still in firmware 9.2 with some things intact (like previous eShop purchases and stuff), but on emuNAND it'll be like as if you're setting up your 3DS for the first time after it was formatted. Oh and your eShop NNID account will be linked to the New3DS so when you try to get on the eShop on the old 3DS, you can't re-download the stuff you purchased. Also, it will delete the stuff you have on sysNAND if you go on the eShop through emuNAND after transfer.

I'm sorry if it's confusing. I'm really terrible at explaining stuff like this.

What I want to do is just transfer my stuff from my old 3ds to the new3ds, games and all. I don't really care to keep anything on my old 3ds, I just want to use it for ninjhax and hacking purposes, so I want the update to stay at 9.2. The problem would come if I have to update to the latest version on my regular 3ds. I realize you will lose your NNID on your old 3ds and it will xfer to the new 3ds. I still don't understand why you would need to use an emunand and gateway to accomplish what I want. I just want to be able to use ninjhax on my old 3ds and put all my downloaded games ect on the new 3ds. Can the old 3ds NNID not be changed if your on an older version?

Your regular 3DS sysNAND will still be on 9.2 if you system transferred using emuNAND 9.4. After you system transfer using emuNAND to the New3DS, just copy the stuff on your SD card over to the New3DS or redownload them on your New3DS through the eShop.

So your saying It would force me to update my old 3ds if try to system transfer, and that is the reasoning for using the emuNAND 9.4 on the old 3ds? That is what I'm trying to figure out, if it forces you to update your old 3ds.

Yes, because it requires internet access to transfer and once the servers notice that your 3DS is not updated to the latest firmware, they'll ask you that you need to update your 3DS. EmuNAND can be used as a replacement since it's an exact copy of your 3DS's sysNAND except it'll be updated to 9.4 while sysNAND stays at 9.2.

Well damn, guess I am just going to keep my games on my old 3ds then. Thats what I get for buying basically digital only copies of most my games ><;;. Honestly the only game I care about xfering is smash 4, but o wells I will probably just buy a hard copy of the game anyways. I really don't know anything about gateway, as I only use ninjhax right now, I guess I can look into it more before I decide.

That's weird. Why would the games on sysnand be removed if you visit the eShop via emunand? I thought both nands are separate from each other.

That's what I thought, but the eShop does a check on your SD card to see if you have any purchases downloaded and stuff. I mean, I did a system transfer from emuNAND to sysNAND and that kind of thing happened to me.

Well, there's no downside since it won't update your old 3DS sysNAND if you system transferred using emuNAND 9.4. So you can still use ninjhax or gateway on your old 3DS while the New3DS can be your main system to use more often.

@Xdqwerty there is health behaviour you can add to your character, then to use a health bar is lil more complicated, google n watch a few tutorial video on it, be too hard to explain here.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the character has the health behavior
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I know you have to create a health and health max variable. Then there is a calculation you use in code to subtract width size of the health bar. Google few vids.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the "greenflatbar" is one of the preset health bars btw
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you can use any bar/sprite. It will just change the width. Ok good luck and have fun. I'm off to go shoot some pool at the bar. Talk to you later.

@BigOnYa, why does the health behavior exist if you can just use a variable?

and nope the number still doesnt change
