I want to change my email address to my new one on protonmail.com but when I enter it it says "The email address you entered has been banned by the administrator. Please try another." can someone unban it?

that service is used by literally all the spambots that register to the site, so we had banned it...
I didn't actually know it was used by legit members. oh well... I've unbanned it, brace yourselves for more spambots I guess

This is a rare moment when I kind of wish you just said, "No, we aren't risking more spambots just for one user." I'm not questioning your choice to unban the email service, but sometimes it's worth keeping up a ban for the betterment of the site.

I thought most of them would have used a service like 10MinuteMail. Didn't realize any of them used ProtonMail.

I whole heartedly agree. There is no reason OP shouldn't use a more reputable email service. There's also no reason to subject the site to more spam in favor of one (or a few) member(s) and their rather poor choice in email providers.

Not all of us want to use a privacy breaching email service like gmail or outlook.

Protonmail I'd consider a reputable mail service. It sounds like they need to do something about the abuse of their service though.

Protonmail is quite reputable, and it's not protonmails fault that people running spambots use it. It's a privacy-respecting provider that (tbh) more people should use, or another alternative like tutanota.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:

still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
