The Last of Us Part II's new "Grounded" update adds a permadeath mode
Two months after the launch of The Last of Us Part II, Naughty Dog is bringing new content to the game in the form of a post-launch patch. Titled the "Grounded" update, it adds a number of features to the game, including visual and gameplay modifiers, certain accessibility options, a higher difficulty level, and a permadeath mode. Players will be able to tweak certain aspects of The Last of Us Part II, toggling on infinite ammo, infinite durability, 8-bit audio, mirror world, and more, while the grounded difficulty makes the game harder by limiting your ammo, weapons, and even the HUD, in order to make for a more challenging experience. Lastly, the permadeath feature is as it sounds, and lets you run through the game, and if you die even once, it's all over. You'll be able to play it all the way through without dying once, or tone it down so that you can at least save at the end of each chapter. The Grounded update goes live on August 13th.
