i fucking hated playing this on the snes not only was the battle system crap but the translation was poor also. now that this is in 3d it's 100 times better. the battle system is like kingdom hearts except with less button mashing. graphics look ok on the switch but you can tell they have been dialed down. the new menus and sound track are also great.

I just tried the beginning of the demo, the new music alone are worth it.
There are many options, one of which you can even select original audio. it feels like they made a SPC player!
New music variation are interesting, and having the option to switch ingame is nice. time to get the OST.

There are English and Japanese dub, Multi sub (en, fr, de, es, jp).
configurable controller (good, because I didn't like the default)

Anyway, I didn't like few things.
- The textures are appearing after the scene is loaded/played, which makes the character's shadow/details appear 1-2 seconds later in cutscenes...
- same for the 3D world, the elements are appearing and disappearing in the (not so far) distance, like flowers in town. like if the PS4 pro isn't powerful enough to display 3D objects in a small area. well, the console's fan is doing lot of noise, the game seems non optimized.
- I'm a object breaker, too bad most elements are not breakable, only specific ones which therefore you know will gives an item.
- I found a bug ! in the log tab, if there is only one entry it's the wrong one ! you look at "world" menu, and pick mana statues info, you see "how to run" instead. You see the right help if you look at mana statues in "all help" menu.
Really, it feels the developers didn't even beta test their game...

- There are no indication that the main character you choose will determine the game difficulty and the areas you'll visit. the games has 3 different story/difficulty.
there are 6 characters: 2 easy, 2 med, 2 hard.
There's a difficulty settings in the options, but I guess it's only for the battles or when you die whether you respawn at the same place or at the save point. but it's not the actual story difficulty/choice.

- no idea if there will be an explanation for the day(light)/night(shadow)/weekday system (natural element) and their effects on combats balance. Lack of physical booklet now force developers to make tutorial in game, I guess they will explain it later.
But explaining the game difficulty AFTER asking the player to choose his main character is kind of stupid...

Quick explanation: if you are undine day (water), fire attack will be weak. Fire enemies will be weaker!
If you are night (shadow), shadow enemies will be stronger !
I beat the original SNES version last boss on a very bad time (at night), and the last battle was very hard and lasted an hour spending my time healing and surviving... if you go with a opportune setup, it takes 10-20min.

So, I have mixed opinion.
it could be nice to play this game as a 3D action RPG.
but it feels a little sloppy, unfinished visually at time, nice at other times. character are nicer than environment, textures and 3D elements feel a little "quickly done". I thought it would look better.
It could be a good remake, but I guess I'll pass.

edit:
The demo is longer than I thought.
I thought they would limit the demo to each character's intro, but instead you can play until you meet another character and has the option to see a flashback of other characters you meet instead of having to "try" each of them to know their story.
