Red Door Digital, an indie game studio with members having worked on titles like FIFA Online, Warcraft II, and EA Origins, has released a new gameplay trailer for their upcoming cyberpunk-themed MMO Reign of Terror set in "a dreamlike futuristic metaverse":

Reign of Terror is expected to release sometime this summer 2022; and is hitting all of the latest buzzwords from "cyberpunk" through "metaverse" to describe itself ahead of its launch. The developers further bill it as a "Web3-based game", with in-game characters and items available as NFTs. The developers will leverage their proprietary Web3 infrastructure to manage the underlying GameFi models for in-game economies and cross-chain NFT interoperability.

There has been a significant blacklash from the gaming community when game companies announced NFT plans of their own, leading many to backtrack on their statements. However, it seems like Red Door Digital wants to further pursue its Web3 ambitions in the gaming industry as beyond Reign of Terror, it is developing other games: a racing and battling casual game called DinoHorse Saga, and a sci-med battle royale-style titled Project Synth. They have even recently received $5 million USD in seed funding for their endeavours. It remains to be seen how successful they will be to deliver on their promise and the response that gamers will have regarding their approach
