With the slow rise of homebrew applications for the Nintendo Wii becoming a new trend in the community, developer marcan42 has fired up the homebrew scene with a new project which finally gives users access to the console's internal Bluetooth controller via the USB interface.

This means that we may be seeing more homebrew software which will make full use of the Wii's hardware very soon. The developer was able to give a small demonstration of how he was able to access the code for the Wiimote through the homebrew loader provided by Team Twiizers.

The next step marcan42 explains is to be able to connect a Bluetooth stack into the code and finally create a decent homebrew game out of the new information. For many of the end users, this may still seem like a very slow start, but it definitely spells good news for homebrew developers who want to build on this code.

To give you a better idea of how the developer was able to work on this homebrew project, here's a video of how he was able to access the Wiimote's interface through the recently released build of the Twilight Hack loader.

Team Twiizers already stated they have a fully working Wiimote driver already working, but for some reason don't want to release it just yet ... Anyways, great news.
