I was playing a PS1 game on my PSP and there was a little slowdown in some areas. I don't know if it's just the game itself or if my PSP isn't tuned right.

I never messed with any of the system settings or anything, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to boost performance when running PS1 games? Maybe from the R recovery menu somehow? And if I do, will there be any side effects I should know about?

Thanks!

Not sure from what i know, not unless you using a emulator. Like epsxe or pcsx or whatever is called, have a system overclock option, some games it supposed to improve performance.

Is it worth using ePSXe or a PSX emulator on PSP? Cuz I've just been using the EBOOT.PBP roms after the pops program (or whatever it was called) spits them back out and running them natively on the PSP's built-in PS1 emulator.

Anyone know how to get maximum performance?

I would rather say that there is no way and no one bothered to reply to tell this obvious statement.

No way? Im playing Playstation games on my PSP sometimes. But I need a new battery cause it only last me for about 40 minutes.

... No way to boost performances, I mean. We already have the best possible emulation on PSP.
I also used it a lot myself. Good times playing RPGs on my console :P

When you converting game with psx2psp you can change compression level in options if its to high game will lag or wont work. Probably your game is to much compressed.

Oh, snap. Thanks, I'll have to look into that.

Well, back in the day, you would go to the recovery menu and mess with seplugins. Doing so would change some stuff around. You could change the clock speed, mess with specific variables, and the result would be a faster or slower experience. I don't know about those variables, so I sought the advice of wiser men.

Edit: Examples of said variables: Memory Stick Speedup, Inferno & NP9660 Cache Size (Number, and Policy) and there might be some other stuff too. Do these not also alter PSX emulation performance? Because they're all at default for me.

Those settings apply to UMD emulation, not software in PSP/GAME

Memory Stick Speedup can be enabled for PS1 mode, but 1- microSD adapters are slower than a real MS anyway 2- both are usually faster than a 2x CD drive

Thanks for the info!

I tried researching speed, but I didn't find anything that suggested an adapter was slower than a Memory Stick Duo - I heard they were the same. Can you cite a source for that claim?

A/B testing at my home :3
Original 32GB orange and black memory stick VS well-used Sandisk 16GB + the common black 1-slot adapter (better built than most 2-slot ones, or at least I never noticed any damage after inserting and removing it 30+ times)

There are very few people I just have just an immense dislike of and he's one of those very few people, the only other example is Gene Simmons. My musician uncle on my mother's side of the family actually met Gene once during some event and said he was the most unpleasant person to be around.
