Hacking what exactly is cios222??

Ive been reading many topics about people having issues using usbloader gx and cios222. Ive been using the loader with 249 without any issues and wonder why the option of 222 is in there. I did select it but all it did was freeze my usb loader. what exactly is it for and do i really need it?

It has a fix in it to stop harddrives spinning down/sleeping which in turn causes a freeze when playing the game.

I had this issue but since installing 222 i have no freezing with the games i've tried (brawl, TP, another code, conduit, excitebots).

Don't know about a spindown fix (which is present on 249 rev12 and up) but it does have USB 2.0 support and some but not all people find better compatibility with USB peripherals when merging IOS 36/37 or 36/38 during installation.

I didn't even know you could run USB loaders off of 222. It was originally made for USB 2.0 support for homebrew or something (don't remember specifically off the top of my head), but then Wan added USB 2.0 in his later revs (from like 9 on or so). You can install it and give it a try if you want.

222 is Hermes cIOS that allows usb backups.

so.. i run both 249 and 222 to play games from usbloadergx? I have an ntsc wii with 4.0u (waninkokos updated) and i ran hermes installer. I received about 4 choices to install 222, which ones do you guys recommend? If i do install 222 does it replace 249 or any other cios?
