I've noticed the fan on the back of my console is pretty dusty. I looked for a way to clean it on Google but couldn't find a clear awnser. Also Nintendo Support provides info on how to clean the vents (which I already do from time to time) but not how to clean the fan, other than the obvious "keep the Wii U off the carpet and away from airborne smoke and oil". Would one of those compressed air in a can do the trick? Is it even worth cleaning if I'm not having tecnical problems with it? I just don't want my hardware to fail in the future.

You don't have disassemble much to get to the fan, just unscrew the shell screws, remove the battery, then lift the top half. The mesh piece sits in this dip, so make sure it's flush when you put it back together. You can use compressed air once it's out of the system.
