What is this I sent to technician mumbo jumbo?

I keep reading threads on GBAtemp about people sending switch to a "technician" only to receive blue screens back. Is it really possible to brick a switch with perfect soldering and no mistakes? The switch just decides to stop working for 0 technical reason? I am looking for explanations because this is making me worry about randomly bricking for no reason at all.

Not really screens of death, there's a myriad of issues that can result in incorrect booting. CFW files issues, OFW issues, and yes micro-soldering issues.
