As the title says, USB Loader GX freezes when I try to open a game. I have Dokapon Kingdom on there through wii backup manager, and when I click on it (not even clicking start), the whole application freezes. I have it on a Sandisk 64 GB flash drive that's formatted to NTSF that my WII recognizes (USB Loader GX sees applications on it). The game is in a .wbfs format. Does anyone know why this is happening and/or how to fix it?

Oh, and while USB Loader GX is frozen, my disk tray glows blue. Does that mean anything?

Hello.:)

Oh, and while USB Loader GX is frozen, my disk tray glows blue. Does that mean anything?

It can be:

- your Flash Drive
- your Wii´s cIOS Setup
- you Wii Games

Please can you help us a little to help you and give us a little more Information about your Setup please ?

Can you post a sysCheck please ?
https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/

You can try and re-format your Flash Drive with FAT32.
Please always use the WiiBackup Manager for your Game Transfers.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/wii-backup-manager-for-windows.188295/

"Maybe" your Flash Drive is not compatible so you should maybe try a HDD instead please.

Which Version from the USBLoader GX do you have please ?

Please take your Time to check all these Points please.

Thank you for your Help.:)

I have a similar issue. I'm trying to move my games on a currently formatted WBFS drive to a FAT32 or NTFS formatted drive.
I can copy the games using Wii Backup Manager and both usbloader_gx and wiiflow will display the titles but when I actually attempt to play a game the wii appears to attempt to access the optical disc drive , then the wii freezes on the the usbloadr_gx or wiiflow start screen.

Hello,

your CIOS are not up to date, you must correctly install your CIOS by following this guide ==>CIOS wii guide

At the same time, update your loaders (usb loader gx, wiiflow ......).

prefer the FAT32 format for your games, you can put the Wii and Gamecube games on this same external hard drive.

you can use "wii backup manager" to manage your games (recommend).

I have the exact same issue with the front sd slot and both usb ports (same sd card with usb adapter used with both ports and front slot).

test your FAT32 SD card.

Test with an external hard drive (fat32) if you could.

I have the exact same issue with the front sd slot and both usb ports (same sd card with usb adapter used with both ports and front slot).
- Update usbloadergx to the latest version.
- Make sure your usb is plugged in port 0, is formatted as Fat32 32kb cluster size and has only one partition.
- copy games into your usb (not sd) with WiiBackupManager, and check their hash for corruption, it's under "tools".

Updated. Did not help.
Like CoolMe mentioned, check that your SD card only has one partition. And if it does only have 1 big FAT32 partition then try without using the USB adapter, since r1281 has an SD card mode.

To activate SD card mode you can either boot without any USB devices connected or go to into settings, select hard drive settings and from there you should find the option to enable or disable SD card mode.

You can try without checking, but if it doesn't work then there's only a few possibilities.
  1. A setting might be bad, so delete the /apps/usbloader_gx folder and then reinstall r1281
  2. Your SD card isn't formatted correctly
  3. You've got bad game backups
Ok. I think the backups are bad. I am redownloading them.
