Why is firmware versions 5.5.1 and 5.5.2 so important?

This genuinely puzzles me. I know it's not because of RedNAND, because even the newer versions can use it. I dont think its for CFWs, as you can still use CBHC with 5.5.5. Maybe its because it can support older and newer homebrew? I don't really know, so I wanted to ask just to starve off the curiosity

Not sure who told you these firmwares were particularly important, because you should be able to hack out a Wii U on any official firmware.

Oh, yeah-- I'm aware. I already have a hacked Wii U, but everyone likes to point out what firmware version they have (specifically when its 5.5.1, 5.5.2, or 5.5.3) and I just assumed it was special or something and I wanted to now why.
