Why wont my switch go into rcm mode

I just bought this unpatched switch I checked the serial number and it says it can be but ever time I put my jig on the right side turn off my switch completely hold the vol up and press power it just turns on

Sometime a jig is cheaply made, if pin 1 and pin 10 one doesn't work , you might need a pin 7 and pin 10 one.

Do you own a payload injector dongle such as RCMLoader One? Or do you know someone who has one? These include a factory made jig, which should be more reliable. Another option would be to mod your right joycon. That's what I did way back when.

I may be mistaken, but I believe patched models will still enter RCM, just won't accept a payload.

Very possible your jig isn't making good contact with the pins. You can try gently adjusting them outwards to make better contact. I bought one of these and had good luck with it: RCM Jig
