is there a way to turn off the automatic updates? right now it checks for updates every time I start it
What version are you using? I'm using v0.4.5 build 78 (x86). Mine does not attempt to update, nor can I find anywhere in the settings where it mentions updating behavior. That explains it then, I have my splash screen suppressed . I used a text editor to do a search inside all files located in the Wii Backup Manager directory and sub directories, and nothing came back. The only mention of the word Update that pertains to the program updating, is from a program updates log. This specifies that a splash screen has been added and now the program updates during this time, which is also shown on the screen.I am using the same version and it checks for updates everytime it starts. You can see the message on the splash screen.
Smaller than the ISO, or smaller than the expecting game data size?
the program list actual game size, not the ISO file size.
The iso contains dummy files to fill the ISO up to 4.7GB, even if the game is only few MB.
when you install a game to HDD, it copies only the game data in the wbfs file.
The game contains partitions, you can choose to copy different partitions when installing a game to your hdd.
- Update partition + Game partition + Other partition (U+G+O = All partitions)
- Game partition + Other partition (G+O = remove update partition) <-- you should select this option
- Game partition (G = keep game partition only)
so even if you dumped your game as wbfs using an USBLoader instead of cleanRIP, it could be that you included the update partition, Wii Backup Manager will list only the game partition size.
help i cant add more then a certain amount of games to my usb or i get ???? under partitions and ios0 under ios and when i launch it on my wii i get a black screen sometimes i cant add more then 7, 5, or 9 right now i cant add more then 5 help me please
Did you ever tried another devices?
It is useless to ask in multiple threads without verifying your own devices
I always select "Only Game partition".
Is there something I might be "losing" by doing so?
*EDIT** OFF TOPIC: Someone should add GAMECUBE functionality to this.
At least a function to verify rips against redumps database.
i cant my sd card is 16gb and cant hold all those games so my sd card will only hold 5
what if your problem is that SD being fake or malfunction? You will never solve your problem this way.
Borrow or buy another device to test it out.
Didn't know that... So far I haven't encountered any problems with any of my rips...
So which option should I choose in WBM?
- Keep Game Partition Only (Default, I think. And the one I use)
- Remove Update Partition (I believe this is the one)
- Keep All Partitions
"Keep All Partitions" is safest but who need an update partition nowadays?
AFAIK, only one game don't like the "Keep Game Partition Only" setting but I could be wrong.
Edit: I myself used "Remove Update Partition"
Never had an issue like that with any game (Not even Smash) but I guess I'll be doing it your way from now on. How much more space are we talking about per game?Choose "remove update".
All games with only Update+Game will keep just the game
All games with Update+Game+Other will keep all the needed data.
Actually, I think only Smash Brawl is using multiple partitions.
if you dump only the game partition, WiiBackupManager will complain that ~10 GameID are corrupted (it's in fact the Virtual console demos).
Fig2k created a tool for Gamecube games too, it's not included in WiiBackupManager because it was a test before integrating it, but he never did it.
So, you have a standalone program for GameCube game ISO:

I don't know if it has auto-redump.org checksum check.
You can just use any Checkum tool (like HashCalc), and make a search on redump with your found md5 to see if it matches any games.
