Homebrew WIIMC unsupported disc

i have a Spongebob Squarepants Lost at Sea dvd i would like to watch on my wii (im watching the disc rn on my blu-ray dvd player) bu i get a black text box saying unsupported disc. dvd is in best condition.

Some later Wii models, I believe 2010 and onward (though that date may be incorrect), have a disc drive revision that cannot play DVDs or backups burnt onto DVDs. I know this because my black Wii is one of them. If you have one that came out around the same time the black Wii came out in the US, you're out of luck with DVD playback.
