where does that 'open world mmo' nonsense come from?
this game isn't going to be any more open world or mmo than any pokemon game before it.
the wild area isn't open world. it's a cage and. it's as open world as old monster hunter games. a limited 3d camera doesn't transform anything into open world
sales will be lower for this, no way they wont be.
- competitive players will likely not care about this as much, because it lacks too many pokemon. and gigamax is a dumb mechanic combining the worst aspects of both megas and z moves into the blandest mechanic imaginable. this gen, competitve will happen even more on showdown than before. also there's nintendo online now, which many despise
- graphic and open world fanatics will learn, within a couple days, that this is still not amazing graphically, that there will still be framedrops and that this is far from any kind of open world they've expected and even farther from any kind of open world they've come to know as the bare minimum in recent years.
- once more, anyone complaining about this being too easy and short will complain about this being too easy and short.
- fewer people and families will buy multiple games because now we have multiple savestates. also because of the price point of both switches and this game.
- going by the reaction to the leaks of the new pokemon, many people were quite dehyped by most things. superficially, this gen is giving us mostly ugly things.
and IF this somehow still manages to succeed to nintendos expectations, the next game will definitely be even worse.

The problem is that the more it will get review bombed the worse the next Pokemon game release will be... Because destructive negativity against something never turns into something good. It's like every war of human history. No war had ever produced something positive.
that's nonsense. you know the people making these games aren't wasting their time reading reviews online. they've got entire subdivisions to do that if they do it at all and they'll crunch this down to neutral complaints that MAYBE reach the eyes and ears of people developing these games. but i'd doubt even that.
Why are you guys assuming they won't release the missing Pokemon (and a few new ones) as paid DLC further down the line?
because they made it pretty clear this isn't going to happen. because if it did, they could've avoided this 3 month ongoing pr debacle entirely.
right now, they're already working on what pokemon not to include in the 2020 pokemon release.
