Not sure if this would be Hardware or Homebrew, so I posted here. I know that as of now, USB Mics won't work as a Wiispeak substitution, but I'm wondering if it's a hardware issue, or lack of support or what, and if a homebrew program could eventually "trick" the Wii into thinking that a USB Mic was Wiispeak or something.
There should be no hardware limitations, I'm sure it'd be possible with some USB mic. But actually having homebrew to make it functional could be difficult. I'm not a homebrew developer or anything, but I'd expect that the homebrew would have to be running for the whole time, and to make that possible whilst simultaneously running a licensed game, well, it'd be hard. I don't think you should count on it, and it'd be best to just buy the WiiSpeak mic. Or, you might as well just stick with skype...
