It is safe to come up for air now people... it is over for a while. For those just joining us releases came fairly thick and fast over this weekend (and friday night/afternoon) and it all got a bit complex. We will be summarising it in the normal posts but the following paragraph of a bit more text as a one time thing- we may however get slightly less lazy and see if we can not get a summary of good games from the second half of 2009 going (probably in a few weeks once all the big releases have hit).
As always the old posts are linked at the end of this main post.

<b>Quick summary of events.</b>
The post on 9th of October would have ended with the release of Magnacarta 2 but as mentioned it got a bit hectic over the weekend- it was initially pegged as region free but we now know it is PAL only. Secondly the game comes on two discs and the original pre missed a few rar files on the second disc.
The group released a rar fix but that was still missing some rar files so another was released that should have now fixed it. The first disc should be good (there was nothing wrong with it) and now you can make a complete rar set for the second disc if your sources have not already bundled them together.

Not long after the the post two more releases appeared in the form of NBA Live 10 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 PAL. NBA live 10 now means you those with US area 360s can play NBA Live 10 and the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 PAL might still get nuked as there is no mention of extra languages and the "NTSC" copy was region free.

We also saw a p2p release of Brutal Legend although we have now got a scene copy.

That over back to the normal introduction:

These threads have been going on for a while (even longer if you count that they happened in previous years as well) but the general idea is in each post the days (or time since last post if nothing much happens on a given day) summarises the state of the 360 scene, it is done in the subforum as GBAtemp is mainly geared to towards the GBA and current Nintendo consoles but there are a substantial amount of 'tempers familiar with other consoles as well who discuss such things on the 'temp.
We cover big releases (a short writeup, release name, region locking information and NFO), the smaller releases (those without English in are usually covered here although we will cover a big Japanese release on the rare occasions one happens), any nuke information and likewise any confirmed games added to the 360 game verification tool ABGX360 as well as any homebrew news.
We tend to avoid covering the P2P game releases as they are not especially reliable when they beat the scene to releasing (previous years have seen several big releases made ahead of street dates which were later nuked) and afterwards there is not much point, this being said if any are of note they will be mentioned in passing.
If you have any suggestions for the format of the post or things we should add please chime in, if you want to help out in the coming months when things get really busy (we are sure you have all seen at least one summer games drought followed by a packed autumn/winter release schedule which is usually made even worse by being able to move in these circles) we are recruiting people to help post these up.
Recruitment thread:

First the current WIP GBAtemp 360 FAQ, it should cover most questions you might have on the 360:
<a href="http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=157263" target="_blank">http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=157263</a>

As many of you know modding your xbox can lead to a ban from xbox live (more or less the only recourse Microsoft have), we do not know the exact methods used to detect modding but it is a fair guess that it is related to the games not appearing as originals for various reasons.
While playing games prior to street dates has been considered there are many that have played before release without issues so street dates for the games will be mentioned if truly necessary but do not count on it. On the other hand prerelease games can sometimes be bad dumps, dumps from non retail sources, bad packing of dumps like any other dump but without a retail copy it is markedly difficult to verify a release beyond the basics. The tool AGBX360 is used to verify isos, directories and games burned to disc and can fix isos and directories if necessary but requires this data (a basic check using the data the game holds is still possible though).
Those who do not care about being banned from live or are willing to risk it then not much need to worry unless otherwise mentioned (as an example the first leaks of Halo 3 ODST were bad which meant while they would run a good chunk of gameplay was missing).

Little bits of 360 release history will be covered from time to time but if you want to delve into the substantial back catalogue of games for the 360 then
<a href="http://www.abgx.net/filename/?ch=6" target="_blank">http://www.abgx.net/filename/?ch=6</a> has release names and a great deal of info.
Another site that is also very useful is (they are frequently a source of the NFOs posted with these releases)
<a href="http://www.ludibria.com" target="_blank">http://www.ludibria.com</a>
Other sites with useful tools and info are
<a href="http://abgx360.net/" target="_blank">http://abgx360.net/</a> (the homepage for a tool to verify and fix games, once a game is added to their database a more thorough check can be performed).
<a href="http://www.xbins.org/" target="_blank">http://www.xbins.org/</a> the web frontend to an FTP site dedicated to homebrew for the original xbox and 360, easyxbins is a nice tool to access the FTP site ( <a href="http://www.360mods.net/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=29" target="_blank">http://www.360mods.net/index.php?name=Down...tails&id=29</a> )
We will leave info on how to flash xboxes for games and/or homebrew to other threads as it occasionally moves fast and is better left to them.

As mentioned in the first big paragraph the 360 supports region locking leaving it to developers and publishers to choose what is done (other than German releases what will be done is very unpredictable).
Those without a homebrew enabled 360 (even then it takes a bit of effort) will find region locking is not able to be bypassed on the 360. There is no great worry unless you are sporting a Japanese 360 (English language games are often region locked out and Japanese xbox games can take months to appear) as game releases usually fall very close together region wise these days. Close together means usually within a week and this still usually means before street dates in respective countries.
It has not come up here but it has in other places; region free is region free and it does not matter what territory the game that was ripped comes from so if there is a region free NTSC sourced release and you are in a PAL country do not wait on a PAL release unless you are waiting for a given language as it will not happen (and if it does scene rules tend to mean the release is nuked), similarly we are going to shift to just stating the regions a game is locked to rather than sources to try and eliminate some confusion unless it is unknown at the time of posting.
There are four regions as far as the 360 is concerned being Japan (NTSC-J), USA (NTSC-U), Europe (PAL) and China (NTSC-C), Australia counts as PAL and anyone anywhere else in the world will probably have an imported 360 so I will leave that to the owners to figure out. China and Japan usually overlap along with the rest of Asia but not always (there are not all that many Chinese releases anyhow).

As mentioned there is now a homebrew method that works on new consoles (previous ones would only work on consoles without HDMI) provided you have not done the August 11th 2009 update or any subsequent ones. In the last day or two many more versions of Xell (the homebrew loader) have been compiled so most 360 models are now hackable and the rest should fall shortly.

There are two main options being considered:
1) Flashing a different region code- unless you have a dual nand chip (one region on each) this is a fairly long winded process but it does work.
2) A "rebooter" app- nothing has yet been tried with this newest iteration of the homebrew exploit (a much older incomplete version exists) but the general idea is to (soft) reboot into a custom kernel/similar which handily ignores things like region checking.
These are both either at a very early stage in development, for earlier versions of the 360 or far from a simple end user hack.

A handful of 360 homebrew sites and guides exist (our own forums are also filled with knowledgeable people too) so for the curious
<a href="http://www.free60.org/wiki/Main_Page" target="_blank">Free60 (the base of the current homebrew work)</a>
<a href="http://www.eurasia.nu/wiki/index.php?pagename=Free60JtagHack" target="_blank">Euraisa writeup of the new hack and how it works</a>
<a href="http://www.xboxhacker.net" target="_blank">Xboxhacker.net (forums frequented by the Free60 crew and many others)</a>
Any discussion on those sites will be of a highly technical nature and a similar level of knowledge/ability is expected of you if you decide to join in.

<u><b>Nukes</b></u>
Nukes, two new nukes (ABGX now lists 193).
Magnacarta 2's second disc was missing some rar files so that got nuked and the rarfix got nuked for not being a complete fix, as mentioned the second rarfix is out now.
<b>MagnaCarta_II_PAL_XBOX360-SPARE</b> nuked for missing rar files
<b>MagnaCarta_II_PAL_RARFiX_DVD2_XBOX360-SPARE</b>- nuked for not entirely fixing the problem.
<b>MagnaCarta_II_PAL_RARFiX2_DVD2_XBOX360-SPARE</b>- should have fixed the problem.
Nuke reasons vary across sites- ABGX only mentions two files while others mention a lot more files missing but all are combinations of missing files.

I still hold that <b>Marvel.Ultimate.Alliance.2.PAL.XBOX360-RoME</b> might see a nuke if extra languages are not revealed (the original release from SPARE was region free). This will be a nuke for being a dupe rather than technical reasons so have at it if you want.

<u><b>Homebrew</b></u>

Nothing new on homebrew but it is probably worth checking out xboxhacker.net as it has been a few days now since hacks were released for the slightly later models and some more discussion has been had on the subject.

<u><b>Less notable releases</b></u>

<b>L.Era.Glaciale.3.PAL.ITALIAN.XBOX360-RoME</b>- Italian Ice Age 3 region dupe.

<b>Lips_READNFO_USA_RF_iNTERNAL_XBOX360-RRoD</b>- We will actually be mentioning this in the main releases section as we have no idea what songs this version has and the songs in this game vary greatly with region (it is supposedly the US version), whether it is deserving of the internal tag is up for debate but it has one so you may have trouble getting hold of it.

<b>Additions to ABGX360</b>
We suggest you use the link below and the abgx360 tool as the site does not use scene naming meaning it can be quite hard to tell entries apart, this is just for reference really
ABGX360 ( <a href="http://abgx360.net/verified.php" target="_blank">Web frontend to verified database</a> ) added:

Halo 3 RF (no idea what "region" this is)
Halo 3: ODST RF (again no idea what "region" this is)
Guitar Hero: Van Halen (RF)
Madden NFL 06 (PAL NTSC/U)
Saw (NTSC/J (Excludes China) and NTSC/U)
NBA Live 10 (PAL and NTSC/J (Excludes China))

<!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo--><b>Releases</b><!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

As <b>Marvel.Ultimate.Alliance.2.PAL.XBOX360-RoME</b> and <b>NBA_Live_10_USA_READNFO_XBOX360-XorCist</b> were covered in an edit to the
<a href="http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=184603" target="_blank">last post</a> we see no need to type it up again.
Other than region dupes the next big release is Dreamkiller (street date 12th of October in the US) although Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition and Way of the Samurai 3 are only a few days out. Most other games to see street releases around the same time are already out.
Release dates can be found here: <a href="http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/" target="_blank">http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/</a>
As usual these posts will be back as and when something happens.

In order of most recent to pre

<b>Guitar_Hero_Van_Halen_READNFO_USA_RF-XBOX360-RRoD</b>
Region free.

RRoD are on top form today bringing us a release not just a few days/weeks ahead of time but a whole two and a half months early (street date according to the NFO is 22nd of December 2009). Some clarification is necessary though as the game was actually part of a promotion for Guitar Hero 5 so it is a full release (it is even on ABGX 360).
Those just joining this guitar hero business the games use simplified guitar controllers and allow people to play along with various songs featuring guitars, this has now been going on so long we need gimmicks to support the gimmick and these take the form of making themed versions (Aerosmith and Metallica (which had the interesting note of featuring better mastered tracks than the actual CD release) previously having the dubious honour of such a game in the guitar hero series and the beatles and ACDC in the rock band series as well as a large selection of downloadable content/addon packs for both games/series). This game features <strike>hair</strike> 80's metal band Van Halen who on later study I personally think were best left in the 80's (and given that the general idea is "if you can remember metal in the 80's you weren't there" something has clearly gone wrong) and some "guest" tracks from other artists, the NFO has listings.

<b>Brutal.Legend.XBOX360-DNL</b>
Region free

Brutal legend comes to us from Doublefine who previously made Psychonauts and the people behind it all were there for the better days of Lucasarts. The game stars Jack Black as a roadie on his way to set right the hellish landscape he finds himself in (naturally by the power of metal music), action/platformer probably best describes the gameplay but this is set to be anything but your average action/platformer.

<b>Lips_READNFO_USA_RF_iNTERNAL_XBOX360-RRoD</b>
Region free.

As mentioned in the less notable releases section this in an internal release (probably to avoid getting nuked for being a "dupe") but it arguably deserves mention in the main section as the game has content that varies widely with region (this version purports to be the US version), the usual reason for such varying content is licensing issues but I would not like to call that just yet.
Lips is a karaoke game so most of what I said for the guitar hero release probably applies here as well. Thanks to NFO we have a wikipedia link to try and help you discern the differences between games themselves and as an added bonus what wikipedia suggests to be the reality:

Ban waves for Forza 3, possibly Tekken 6, Modern Warfare 2, Assassins Creed...I'm surprised SFIV didn't have a ban wave though since it has a lot of fans.

@misteromar as Chanser says a nuke is a release that does not conform to the rules the various groups in the "scene" agree to follow.
However it gets a bit more complex as not all of these rules matter as far as we the end users are concerned.
Here is a picture of the some 360 scene rules (not sure if they are current but that is all I have around here right now).
XBOX360.Release.Standards.2007.v1.340

Click on the image and it will load up a bigger version.

Common nuke reasons include:
Duplicate of an old release: some people are still tied to PAL and NTSC but for the most part region free is region free (exceptions are for things like Lips which saw a release up in the first post which despite being region free as far as console lockouts are concerned are in fact different depending on what country the game came from, this is so rare I do not have any examples other than Lips)
Some groups have done straight up duplicates as well (Call of Duty 4 got one a few days back for reasons unknown).
Sometimes the NFO makers will leave out if the game has multiple languages and get a dupe but get un nuked when they release a fixed NFO (NFOfix) or directory fix (DIRfix) if the NFO already had such data but the name did not. If you look in the rules there are rules for the NFO and directories but few groups will get nuked for an NFO lacking certain things (technically they should all contain region data (a simple 10 second read with ABGX360) but as anyone who has been following these threads will have noticed not all groups do this and hardly anyone will get nuked for it.

m0 compression: scene rules state that rar files must be compressed. Sometimes they are not, all it means for you is you spend some more bandwidth.

invalid rar size: 100 megs is the standard for various organisation reasons. If they are not it is no great worry to you.

p2p repack: every 360 dump is slightly different (not that such a thing can be detected by the 360 when properly done) and simply repacking a p2p release will usually get noticed, I have not mentioned it on gbatemp yet (that would be post I make later today) but DNL's Brutal Legend got nuked for just this.
50/50 if it is a problem as far as the end user is concerned for while most scene releases are done by people who have a clue what they are doing many p2p groups do not (they make a "working" release and that is that, not all do this but there are no rules or recourse in p2p land).
In previous years such p2p releases have been strongly suspected of causing bans (usually when they are released early and from bad sources) which probably sparked the "do not play before proper release" banning theory even if it was actually bad dumps that did it. Again nobody who can say knows the exact methods so I might well be wrong, "they" might well be wrong or we both might.

I'm too busy with school. I barely have any time to play games anymore lol. By the time I do get around to playing them, hype would've died down.

Thanks for info about nuked games etc, I didnt realise there such rules and regulations for releasing a game rip, or the diff between scene vs p2p releases.
