Yacht Club Games announces Cyber Shadow, a new ninja platforming game

Are you looking for a new ninja based platforming game with retro stylized graphics? Because that's what developer Mechanical Head Studios and team behind Shovel Knight, Yacht Club Games are working on. Titled Cyber Shadow, the game is a tight action-platformer with some clear inspiration from Ninja Gaiden. A trailer was provided directly after the reveal, showing off the gameplay throughout multiple varied levels. As noted in the press release, the soundtrack will be handled by Enrique Martin, with help from Jake Kaufman, known for his work on DuckTales: Remastered, Shovel Knight, Shantae: Half Genie Hero, and more. There's no confirmed release date, but Cyber Shadow will be available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, and will cost $14.99.

In Cyber-Shadow, the world has been taken over by synthetic lifeforms. A desperate plea for help sets Shadow on a journey to uncover what started the path to perpetual ruin. Slash through the techno hordes, leap past traps, and nimbly navigate the ruins of Mekacity.

Only you can unlock the secrets to your clan’s ancient powers in Cyber Shadow, the quintessential Ninja Action game.

Features

– Dash, slice, and leap through masterfully designed levels filled with sharply honed ninja platforming action.
– Authentic 8-bit presentation with hand-crafted sprites, a detailed pixel aesthetic, and perfect controls. Modern touches like fluid animation, multi-layered parallax backgrounds, and evolved game design.

– Relive the authenticity of classic 8-bit challenge or experience it for the first time.. with an added convenience or two.
– Rescue your clan to unlock permanent Ninjutsu skills and abilities, combining them seamlessly as only the warrior of legend could.
– Search for secrets as you explore the ruined world. Return to your old haunts to find supplies, items and upgrades.

I hate video games
I hate stairs.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

The Temp can sometimes be extremely confusing. People who hate anime have anime avatars and people who hate 16-bit style games have 16-bit avatars.

Some things are best left alone.

On the one hand, it's great they are moving on into a new series. Will buy on release day. With that said, two things: 1) I question if this ship hasn't sailed... The Messenger has already gotten a BAFTA an so forth; 2) They take so long with their projects that this is not a thing to think about for now.

Hmm. Hopefully it varies from the messenger enough to develop its own identity. Shovel Knight was quality though but still waiting on King of Cards :rofl2:

Reminder that games take years to develop and they could have simply not known about the messenger when they were working on it
There's no rule against having more than one good 2D ninja game in the world, anyway. Mark of the Ninja came out years before The Messenger, and it's great in its own right.

The Temp can sometimes be extremely confusing. People who hate anime have anime avatars and people who hate 16-bit style games have 16-bit avatars.
Gamers in general can be quite confusing themselves.

Complain that there are no good games
Show them a good game that isn't by a big name dev and they call it "indie trash"
Either that or they ignore any good game that isn't mainstream and call it "Cringy"

Talk all day about the "Glory days of gaming"
When someone makes a remake of those games it's a "Soulless cash grab"
When someone makes a game that looks like an older game it's "Low-quality and low-effort garbage"

Complains when someone releases a series of games that are similar in some form or another.
Also, complains when they actually change the series up a little bit. (Even Symphony of the Night had whiners back in the day).

Sometimes there are good points made surely about how some devs have become greedy, but for the most part Gamers are a rather entitled lot that will complain about a game relentlessly if the tiniest thing that bothers them as well...while continuing to spend money on said games either way.
