And you see I brought you flowers....

Hey, yeah I know i'm late but it's better than never right?

After enough mucking around and phone calls, I was finally able to pay my speeding fine I spoke about last month, ended up costing me $450 dollars for doing 84 mph down a freeway so yeah kids, don't speed.

This month I ended up spending quite a bit on various stuff, in Amiibo news I ended up getting a Captain Olimar and Classic Colours Mario as well as the Retro 3 pack that consists of Duck Hunt, ROB and Mr Game and Watch. I am tempted to import more Mr Game and Watch's due to the amiibo having 4 different poses but I guess I will see how much or rare he is, I will definitely import a Japanese ROB though due to the different colour scheme.

So with halloween coming up and it seemingly being the Mrs favourite holiday we try and dedicate 2 months to playing horror or creepy games mainly to keep her happy, so we started it this month with revisiting Resident Evil 2, playing Harvester and Downfall for the first time and starting on Alan Wake. Resident Evil 2 was a nice walk down memory lane, I was surprised how much of the game I can still recall from memory seeing as it must have been 15 years since I last recall playing it but it held up pretty well, improved everything from the first game by a great margin although the tank controls do feel horrible these days despite playing the GameCube version and using the R slider to move, one of the reasons I hold such high value for the N64 version is because the characters would move in accordance to the camera which made it a breeze to play. Harvester I gave up on because I found that one just a bit too janky to play and the presentation of the game was pretty boring, Down Fall though is perhaps one of my favourite click n point games after playing it because everything in that game just tied up so nicely on my initial playthrough, there is a remake coming soon but the developer is giving away the original game for free on his website so i implore you to try if if you got nothing better to do. Alan Wake though is a pretty impressive game so far, reminds me a bit of Resident Evil 4 with a splash of Luigi's Mansion so it's all good in my opinion.

Short of that i ended up playing Metal Gear Solid V : Ground Zeroes for the lack of being able to play the Phantom Pain right now, the Telltale Game of Thrones series and Super Mario Maker. Ground Zeroes I ended up playing some of the side ops which has made me appreciate the engine funnily enough. The assassination mission is a bunch of bullshit mind you but the game does play well. The Game Of Thrones I got for the wife because she loves anything GOT so we been playing it and it is safe to say while we have, I ain't had a clue what has been going on at all in the game, lol. I mean its a Telltale game, you make some choices about what you want to say, occasionally you are allowed to explore the background, it is ok I guess. The gem of the month so far has been Super Mario Maker for
me though, the whole package is great fun although I will admit, I am pretty bad at designing levels. Some of the other levels available though are fantastic, one I really enjoyed is one that attempts to mimic a Mario Kart race against a Spiny. With the huge amount of content available for designing levels and playing them I have had a delightful time with the package though, one of the few games that has made me laugh and feel like i'm smiling while playing it.

Anyway, GameStop had sales recently on most of their retro stock so I decided to indulge in some of it. PSP games were being sold for buy 2 get 2 free so I ended up getting Parappa the Rapper, Metal Gear Ac!d, Metal Gear Ac!d 2, Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphical Novel, Crisis Core, Megaman Powered Up
and Star Ocean First Departure. I also ended up getting 50 bucks worth of eShop credit and ended up buying Vs Excitebike, Earthbound Beginnings, the Lucas DLC for Smash as well as the 3D Streets of Rage 2 for the 3DS.

I told you I was controller mad and I am continuing that trend, I ended up getting a 8Bitdo SF30 controller. Despite feeling like it took months to arrive when I got it I was quite excited, felt as good as the real thing, hooked up like a breeze to my phone although when I tried it with Retroarch on Windows, mainly the Bsnes core i noticed what appeared to be a slight input delay and the fact the pad won't auto connect, short of those issues which may get fixed in due time I love it for my emulation stuff.

So life stuff, I got a full time job. Working in a warehouse right now but after the boss looked over my resume he wants me to move into the office after I get some experience there and get my forklift license sorted out, which was a nice surprise. The job is a 6-3 affair which sucks a bit but the money and perks are enough to keep me happy.

Moving into music stuff, I have mainly been listening to the new album by The Libertines 'Anthems For Doomed Youth'. Despite this being a comeback album I was delightfully surprised at how it turned out, I wasn't the biggest fan of the lead single, Gunga Din, but the rest of the album is pretty solid, not there best work mind you but a fantastic collection of songs.

And to finish this up on some gaming nonsense, Kimishima being elected the CEO of Nintendo? I reckon as far as internal choices go he was probably the best one they have besides Satoru Shibata but I still don't think anyone will see the effects he could have on the company until next year at the earliest and he has only been voted in for a year so who knows, will be interesting to see where the company goes as I expect them to talk more seriously about Project NX or a 3DS successor next year.

Anywho, I have had enough for now, next month, etc
