Arrrgghhh ! Is THIS the month for losing things ?

Have I had a bad week losing stuff (so far).....

Firstly,
Something went wrong with My PC - couldn't install updated drivers for my Graphic card (OK it IS an old PC - but it does the job).
A couple of Forums suggested I had corrupted registry & a 'Windows repair install' should fix it.... IT DIDN'T
Instead it caused my PC to 'lock up' on the 'register Windows' screen (Yes - I DO have a perfectly legal XP OS BTW).

It didn't come up with the page for me to type it my code - all I got was the desktop picture & no 'explorer' start button etc
I had to use an old Drive image to restore my C: drive - & in doing so I LOST my Minecraft world(s)

(Before anyone says 'should've had a backup'... I did - but guess where I stored them... on the C: drive )

Secondly,
There I am, switching on my 3DS to play 'Brain Age' on my DSTwo, which I'd started March last year, & done it (virtually) every day just to keep my aging brain 'active' - & what do I get....
'Please select your language' ...
.....meaning that my save file got corrupted somehow (all other games on the card seem to run OK - just that DAM one)
I know it's not the MSD card - that a new one I got just before Xmas, still 10 Months of Brain Training down the drain :(

And Finally (I hope),
At work I was asked about some info some1 else had sent me via SMS,
I unlocked my Android phone to look it up for them and.... ALL my SMS have disappeared, vanished, kaaput - totally non-existent

WTF !!! D: - I never deleted them, I don't 'auto sync' with HTC Sense.com (mainly because it STILL doesn't have SMS tabs along the top etc - a common problem many people have complained about) - so where the hell did they go ???

A Google search seems to show that a LOT of people with Android phones have had the same problem (& NOT just on a HTC Desiree HD) - possible an inherent Android 'bug' ???
I do have a backup on my Gmail of most of the SMS's (I back up the SMS manually ~ every 1-2 months), but not for the last month or so

DAM,Dam,Dam

All I can say is that I was lucky to have at least 'old' backups... but my advice to everyone
MAKE REGULAR BACKUPS & KEEP THEM SEPARATE FROM THE ORIGINAL SOURCE

External hard drives are incredibly useful.
I've learned the hard way as well to keep regular backups.
Android, Windows, everything. -___-

G
Yup, backups are 100% useless if they're stored at the same place as the original.

Yup. I'm a computer geek and I love my external hard drive. (Most of my stuff is stored off in it anyhow.)
