It's going to be a stupidly long day tomorrow. But luckily, I have a bento to look forward to! I'd be shopping for books and eating lunch in the non-localvore cafeteria.
This weekend has been terrible for a healthy diet. I had a social engagement - a campfire thing in which I ate too many marshmallows and drank two cans of soda. My early birthday party was on Saturday, and we had dessert pizza, real pizza (pepperoni only), fresh cut fruit and cookies. My parents came down to see me on Sunday - and we ate out at the local Northern Chinese restaurant. It was pretty much a food coma for the rest of the weekend...so I decided on creating a healthy/penance bento.
Minutes to Prep: 20
Carbohydrates: healthy mix rice (wild rice, white rice, oatmeal, red rice)
Protein: about a quarter of an egg
Fruit: pears, oranges (the pears were leftover from the fruit platter tray we had - they weren't submerged properly in the apple juice mix, and turned rust brown after)
Veggies: cucumber cut outs, spears of blanched bitter melon gourd (tasty!)
Other: a mini bottle of soy sauce (not pictured)
Decorative: emoting face picks!
Also, this is the one of the reasons why I feel I have to create a healthy bento:
Dessert Pizza - nutella, chocolate chips, chunks of candy bar (Mr. Big), caramel sauce and marshmallows. Sugar coma!
