astrangeone's bento counter - Prehistoric Lunch for September 5 2012

I went grocery shopping today for party prep stuff for Saturday. Did I mention it was raining...hard? I ended up buying some groceries for both bentoing and boring old food and also food for the party. It was raining hard enough that I had a box of the new Krave cereal (double chocolate) in my backpack - the box turned into mush in my bag. (Also, the rain caused an accident - I was waiting for the bus near a bank parking lot. A white car turned, lost control, skidded into the trees across the street, and managed to sideswipe a black SUV. The noise was tremendous - and the SUV just got dinged on the bumper, but the other car lost a section of it's bumper.)

Anyhow, it's a busy day for me - I have to volunteer for a recreation and leisure position, and this means I have to get a background check done. This means I have to find the damn place and pay $15.00 to get it done. I would have gotten in done in my hometown, but I lacked a car and the means to get to the place. So, it means bento time - and it also means that I have to deposit a check as well.

So...on to the bento!

Minutes to Prep: 45 - kept forgetting stuff and needing to retrieve it. Scatterbrain!

Carbohydrates: slice of wheat wonder bread. (the bread punch I have is massive, I'd probably need to use a texas toast or a Hong Kong styled piece of bread to use it.)

Protein: bone shaped slice of cheese (freezing sliced cheese makes it easier to cut - and also, I bought a massive amount of cheese...48 slices!)

Fruit: cherries, and two slices of oranges

Veggies: broccoli florets and stems - the damn thing kept shedding!

Other: faux/no-name Nutella (hazelnut chocolate spread)

Decorative: two emoting food picks!

Comments

God damn Kellogg's (and every damn other cereal company) uses cancerous preservatives like BHT. Which sucks ass. I wish they would sell alternatives without that shit.

Doesn't your bread get soggy ?

I don't eat cereal often - it's more of a treat than anything else. Mostly my breakfasts consist of fruit or protein and the leftovers from a couple of days of bentoing.

My bread doesn't get too soggy - it still has a pleasant chew to it. (I might use a little bit of butter as insurance if I needed it much later.) The cheap spread is pretty good, and not liquid enough to cause trouble. (I ended up eating half of the sandwich.) I might use sandwich balls later, although.
