My new laptop

So in case people haven't noticed, I wasn't as active. I know, crazy shit right? Well that's because the screen on my laptop broke and my old Acer C7 Chromebook was finally starting to show her age. So I had to buy a new laptop! So last night I got an HP Notebook - 15-f387wm!
It's not the best laptop on the market, but has more than enough for me considering all of my games ran just fine on my shitty 1.1 Dual-Core C7.
Specs time!
AMD Quad-Core A8-7410 APU with Radeon R5 Graphics (2.2 GHz, 2 MB cache)
8 GB DDR3L-1600 SDRAM (2 x 4 GB) (upgrade RAM myself 5 seconds after buying it)
AMD Radeon R5 Graphics
500 GB 5400 rpm SATA
SuperMulti DVD burner
15.6" diagonal HD WLED-backlit touch screen (1366 x 768)
Full-size island-style with numeric keypad
802.11b/g/n (1x1)
Integrated 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet LAN
1 multi-format SD media card reader
2 USB 3.0; 1 USB 2.0; 1 HDMI; 1 RJ-45; 1 headphone/microphone combo
Running openSUSE Leap 42.1, I uninstalled Windows 10 without even booting into it.
Here's my desktop!

It's not the best, but good enough for me!

Umm i don't think any thing windows based has a source code.
Is not a insult or anthing but i see you like having power and control, you're not a villian or something are you? A Diva of show business?

I am a poweruser, I prefer to have complete control over my stuff. When I get a laptop, I want to know all the hardware and control all of it.
It's also the reason I love using Corbenik, because I have control over what I want to be done with my 3DS.
I might be a villain though.

That last sentence scares me a bit. :ninja:

I mean i guess, who doesn't like "Executing arbitrary code" on a device? Just sometimes i guess people think with so much they just might break something, saftey options is good to have until one is confident and comfortable with total control and responsibility of things may happen if abused. Spider man, why you have to teach us this lesson? :bortz2:

@Olmectron
That's really not true anymore. Linux perfectly suitable for desktop usage and has come along way. As someone who has spent 11 year using Linux, I can safely say, it's a lot easier and a lot more usable.
Arch Linux maybe for more techy users, but Linux Mint can easily be picked up by anyone.

I thought about buying a rasberry pi since it now comes with Wifi, i wanted one to just say i have a linux PC, but i never used it and wonder if i will know what i am doing.

Linux is the rare case where youtube is often the best place to check. Even the most out of date guide, will still retain information that will work on the most up to date system.

Most games are actually being launched with Linux support or quickly get Linux support. A lot of games are also being ported over pretty regularly.
I really don't game much on my PC though, so I am just happy with the games I have now

Youtube can't solve everyone's problems you know. :P
Seriously, i mean if is easy to use, then i would be happy to buy rasperry bi, and use one, if is easy like most common pc, especially using emulators. I need a PC that can be used on my tv that isn't always a laptop. :glare:

I know it can't but it's one of the rare moments when it can help. I still have one guide I turn to when dealing with AMD issues and it's from the ATI era of cards.

Well i know, just saying, i mean i feel lot ease and comfort with someone to instruct me than videos, but if is all you have i understand. I need to know that i can ask questions if i don't understand something that videos may not have supported. Is just a learning disability i guess. :shy:

I have 11 years of knowledge and have tested more distros than you can shake a stick at. You can always hit me up

I thought we went over this last time you wanted me to fight you, i'm not hitting any lady unless is in a video game. You wanna fight, settle it in a game.... of smash or something.

Speaking of 11 years of knowledge, you were 15 at the time, did schools in your area really teach how to use linux? Only computers i used in school was ones that looked like space helmets, we used to play reader rabbit, oregon trail and word munchers on it, and some typing game, that was just grade school, then we started using windows in highschool, with mavis beacon teaches typing. :P

Never have i heard of linux until after 2009 and had my hands on android phone. :ninja:

Actually, I was 14 at the time and my first experience of Linux was during a tour of a school. It was short, but amazing! I remember seeing Ubuntu running GNOME 2 for the first time and I was hooked! Then when I got home, my brother installed Ubuntu on the home computer because he was getting sick of Windows. And I never stopped using Linux since that day.

GNOME 2, is it a game or something? And the name, UBUNTU, what kind of name is it? A afracian name? My head hurts.

I mean i get it, you are smarter than me and stuff, if i can get a rasperry bi then i'll consider asking for help if i need it, if you are free to assist that is, you seem busy as it is, with work, drinking booze, boyfriends, roomates houses, and games or something else, i dunno, i don't need to bother with anyone and i am sure no one needs to concern themself with me and a $40 PC i may break on day one.

Okay i see, still i need a linux pc, so when i get one i will try something. Just hope i can get the rasberry pi with the wifi for decent price.

@Crystal the Glaceon Ok, fair point.

I've used Mint since Maya and Puppy Linux since around 5 years ago. Both of them have improved a lot on making everything more user friendly.

Sadly, I only have right now an old Laptop which could only work right with Puppy Linux (I prefer Mint, but it freezes a lot with it). My now dead i3-3210M used to have Mint 18 KDE. Now I have a Gamer Desktop PC with an i7 for Steam games on Windows. Tested SteamOS, but it didn't convince me.

Anyway, whatever anyone wants and prefers to use is right, as long as they respect people who prefer other OS.
