Update about life

So, as some of you might have seen, I have been less active lately. That is because I started High School. Anyways, when most people hear about a kid going to high school, they would tell them to "enjoy it". Well I'm not enjoying it, the classes are slow and boring, and I'm planning to challenge out next year

Anyways short blog post, been a while since I made a serious one

Who in the WORLD said to enjoy high school? Cuz man, are they off the mark. HS is something where you're either top dog, or you're not, and spend 4 years trying to blend into the crowd and scrape by. I went to a horrifyingly strict charter get-an-associates-degree-by-senior-year high school that was more akin to a boot camp, and when I decided suffering wasn't my thing, I went to public school, which was only 1% better. Keep your head up, and just focus on every trashy assignment you're given, so you can ace your classes and get the heck out in 4 years. Good luck dude.

that's like telling someone to enjoy it when they get sentenced to prison. Instead how about "good luck I hope you survive".

Except for 10th grade. That was when EVERYONE decided drinking was cool and I watched countless friends begin the spiral into alcoholism and throwing away their lives

@BORTZ rip dude, I will never drink (mostly since I have already drank some alcohol and hated the taste)

Anyone who tells people to "enjoy it" in regards to high school HAS peaked in high school. Seriously. High school was like hormone city for me, and people were miserable. Anyone who wasn't was either the "popular" kids OR a jock. I hung out with the nerdy kids (we played D&D and Pokemon and MtG)....

Anyhow, slog through high school, get good grades and socialize with the people you care about.

Don't make the mistake that I did by trying to fit in as a freshman. Be yourself and find those individuals who value your traits. I didn't find my "true" friends until my sophomore year.

@GhostLatte I'm mostly by myself or hanging with my 8th grade friends, so I guess I will stick with doing that

High school was actually not that bad for me, the most difficult part of my life was definitely middle school tho

Also, I'd say get to be friendly with some of the upperclassmen. Did that as a sophomore and I had a blast. Still really close to them to this date.

Standing out will also get you singled out. Kids that age love to pounce on people that are different in any way. But power through it, and you'll usually find your way out of the mess with +1 friend. And having a person to talk to makes high school that much better.

The moment you can, get out. You don't understand just how much better college is than high school. "We're preparing you for college!" Bullshit. And the bullshit keeps ramping up every year, too. From my experience, there's no "top dog" and you don't have to "fit in" or anything that movies might have led you to believe. The entirety of HS was people just trying to get shit done so that maybe they could sleep on time the next day. If your school has a lot of social politics, don't bother, no one cares at the end of the day. Just grab a friend circle of people you can trust so you don't go loony, finish your four years, and get out.
