dont you just love windows 10?

My Win10 PC suddenly started to have problems with USB drives and went downhill. When copying to various flash drives (good devices like Samsung 64G 3.0s) the transfer speed would fall off to 0kb/s and freeze there for a few minutes before picking back up at a mediocre rate. It would repeat this rhythmically until the transfer was complete. Then a downward spiral occurred and Windows would want to scan the drives and wouldn't find errors but then lose the drive and find it again but claim it wasn't formatted. Attempting to format would lose the drive again and freeze explorer. Finally, I got pissed off and put Win7 back on and everything is great again.

It may have been a forced driver install from Windows Update that caused it I couldn't give a crap enough about the Windows install at that point to troubleshoot it.

Get something better than a fake $1 50 TB piece of shit chinese SD card. This has nothing to do with windows. A shit OS like linux certainly wouldn't help. It's your garbage SD card or faulty port.

I'm stuck on Windows 8 so at least you have up to date firmwarr

If it ain't broke, don't fix it; I'm on Win 7 for as long as I can be and it's working fine for me. Only when I'm forced to update in 2020 perhaps.

they make 50tb cards? the biggest I've seen was a 1tb card for ~$130
I was copy pasting from 14gb (12.2gb used) to 30gb
and it worked fine when I did it through my phone yesterday

Actually I like windows 10. Its a pretty solid OS.

tbh, it feels like your bashing win10 just for the sake of bashing it, just give it a break and admit that the issue up there may have not been windows 10's fault
I flip between windows 7 and 10 daily and both are fine with the only difference being that win 10 has some new bells and wissles, some useful, some not, but non the less, it feels kinda empty how much you bash 10

Really? How can someone use Linux, bash Windows and know nothing about SD cards and the fakes they do? I'm 100% sure you got a fake card and didn't even know it.

and that issue was sd corruption, right? I still don't really believe the issue cause I'm sure it had to be bad connection or something, also, there is clearly something else going on under your install of windows cause there is no reason there should be such a large dispearity in transfer rates between windows and linux, I have never seen any improvement myself when trying to transfer anything, what was the size of the data you were moving?
