@Cyan when people are emotional they sometimes say things they don't mean without thinking about them. I don't know about you but alcohol tends to make me get emotional easily.

Maybe he was having a bad day and the alcohol just pushed him over the edge. These things happen. Could have simply been misdirected anger, or correctly directed anger but amplified by the alcohol.
He might have said it but that doesn't mean he actually thinks that.

On a serious note; I think being drunk is no excuse for your behaviour. Just drink responsibly or moderately next time. Our actions have consequences.

I agree you can be in bad mood (alcohol or not, angst, etc.) and say things you don't usually say, but I always think that if you tell something, it's not harmless. It comes from a background, and you meant it (deep down, I know you did). Only way you didn't mean it is if mistaking a word for another. Sometime, even sober, I pain to say what I want to express. it's just lack of vocabulary and social experience.

When you say something when drunk, you don't say something else. Why choosing that word instead of another?
If alcohol makes you talk more easily, it doesn't teach you a new language, it just inhibit you and remove the language and politeness barrier you learned to use since you are in society and your parent taught you.
It's like senile and Alzheimer people who are aggressive and insulting, they just don't have that barrier anymore, and just (finally freely) say what they think.

The best to do in that situation is probably to apologize. what's done is done.
if you really didn't mean it (and it means I'm wrong), then at least you should take responsibility and don't be drunk again to that point, because it will happen again, or worse.
