Is it wrong to be "proud to be an American"?

So I'm American and I'm proud of it. I'm proud of the men and women who have fought and are fighting to defend our country. I'm proud of the ideals and dreams our country was founded on. And I'm proud of. And I'm proud to live in a country with the energy and liveliness that is distinctly American. Now I'm aware that our country is flawed. I'm aware the government is far from perfect (though not as bad as people say), and I'm aware that the past few years may have been a step back in societal advancement, but there's a lot of good to be found here. All I've seen on the internet recently are posts on how tragic America is and how it's the worst place in the world. This comes especially from my generation millenial-gen z (if you consider gen z existant). I feel like this is part of a larger issue where younger generations "rebel" as a way to stand out, but end up being just like everyone else. However, that's a topic for a different day. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I wish people were less... confrontational for lack of a better term, and could enjoy what they had. Anyway, sorry for the little rant or whatever. This is just a piece of what's been going on in my mind lately.

When has Trump said the Earth is 6,000 years old? When have I said that? That's relegated really just to fundamentalist Christians. Oh... and climate change as it is described by Al Gore and other liberals is in fact not real. It's a hoax. Nothing ridiculous about that statement. It's simply a statement of fact. And let's say your 6,000 years thing is true, how exactly would that be harmful? It may impede human scientific progress, but so would allowing this new age gender stupidity to go on.

It's not wrong to be proud, depending on what your proud of.

Is it the military, the police, the firefighters, or anyone who fights for you, is that it?

Or is it the history of what made this country free, making a stance and making something new out of something that was pompous and crude.

M
to end that argument the Earth is older than 6k yrs, by a lot climate change is real, and no political so side is extreme as y'all are making it, lol

"Climate change is a hoax".....more like "my bible says that won't happen and so did Trump so don't question me"

What the fuck is even connection between Trump and climate change? Why the fuck some people try to derail this thread? @dpad_5678 and people similiar to them, begone.

@Kigiru the link is that Trump's gone on record saying that he thinks that global warming is a hoax perpetuated by the Chinese governments to keep America from progressing, and there's a particular demographic of people that will blindly follow anything he says because they genuinely believe he's either more knowledgeable than people qualified to speak on the matter, or that he's somehow been more informed than they/briefed on Intel and has no regard for secrecy in the name of transparency

The inaccurate usage of the term "American" has always bugged me. Other than that, I don't see a problem with it. Being proud of one's country is generally considered a good thing, last time I checked.

Honestly, I wish I could say I am proud to be from the USA. The insane level of crime and corruption that is present in both the USA and all the other countries on the planet... is just disgusting. Because of that, it amazes me that there are actually any people capable of being proud of their countries.

This is why I don't watch US news or world news on TV. It just makes me depressed, angry, or a combination of both. Sad but true.

People tend to only focus on things they do not have and problems, the mind is never satisfied. It never stays with what is achieved, it goes on to the next thing it does not possess. The USA is a great country, its way of life is just right I would say, and not a lot of countries are even close to it, even the big ones. Its history is so small, like about 300 years, you could say it's the youngest country, and that's why it's so great. At any time all of its people can become deprogrammed from past habits, cultures, and ways, and become free of a past that has not a huge investment in comparison to say India. The people there have potential to become as contemporary as possible and free from the past, and that I believe is one of the most important things a human being should do. The country is also the most diverse of races, so you can't really name the majority as any race, all you can say is they are American; again, that's being free of a stupid division of human beings (race/colour/ethnicity). These are not my own created ideas, read this for more.

Climate change is real and happens naturally. The Earth has more cycles other than seasons. I'd post my sources but I'm too lazy.

It's not a matter of being wrong. But the murican obsession with their nationality is just weird, it's almost a fanbase. Like being a Nintendo fan(American) is better than being a Xbox fan(any other nationality)

@SirNapkin1334 we've already had a self-proclaimed nationalist in the thread so idk we may have already soared past that point
