I Dropped My PC Tower, It's FU*KED And So Am I

i was moving my pc tower from one place to another, i lifted as normal but the faceplate popped off and when it hit the ground it rolled like a fricken ball. I acted like it was nothing and casually turned it on but it just beeped, of course i unplug it to examine it. EVERYTHING WAS F*CKED. The whole case was bent and it was hard to slide off. The motherboard was also crocked AF and the cpu fan was big and heavy so it Fked that sht up too. The GPU was big and heavy, F*CKED, ram, F*CKED... The only thing that survived were two 120GB old 3.5in spinning hard drives, wires, power source and fans. For a big heavy rectangular object I have no clue how it was bouncing like that.

I started to use my PC to game again because had given away my switch to a less fortunate blood relative around New Years and now IM F*CKED. I dont plan on buying any console or replacement PC for a few years, if at all... This sucks.

Argh. That really sucks! Everything busted in a second. Extremely unlucky that almost everything was destroyed.

Do you have any secondary desktop PC or at least a laptop? I would not want to do without a proper computer.

If anything this is a nice reminder how stubborn/durable HDDs are. Dunno if an SSD would have endured that.

@VartioArtel: SSDs don't have moving parts, they're basically big SD cards, no reason why they wouldn't have survived that.

i have a laptop thats only good for games 2013 and older, its only used for media. The kind of beep is the one that tells you that everything is F*CKED up. Everything pretty much snapped off the sockets and barely hangin on, the motherboard is bent like a potatoe chip and the case is too. it didnt fall flat, it landed on one corner and bounced around like a basketball.

Can you please take everything out and take pictures of them? Something might be salvagable

@VartioArtel surely you're mixing the two up? A HDD is fragile beyond belief. An SSD however is durable as hell.

@Shadowfied
They have to be mixing the two up. You can chuck your SSD across the room and it will be fine. However, I have broken two HDDs in the past from a less than 12" fall onto a soft couch. If your HDD is operational and takes even a minor to moderate hit, it is likely toast. If if not in use, not much will save it.

Considering the extent of everything else damaged on the computer, the HDDs may not even be functional unless OP tested those on a separate computer. Their description is a little uncertain too...it is possible just the motherboard needs replaced depending on how the components detached from the board. If the components broke at the pins instead of the motherboard connectors, then they are unfortunately toast.

I agree with linuxares, post pictures, perhaps something is salvageable.
Also, why are you planning not to replace the PC? That really sounds like it requires replacement now.

linuxares trust me when i say im sure the parts were not salvageable, i shouldve taken pictures but i didnt think about it. It bounced off the side that held the motherboard. when the faceplate popped off it kinda jacked up my fingers, it almost ripped off all my fingernails.

shadowfield, the HDD were in a case inside the case and that was bent and the things keeping them held in all broke and popped off, they werent screwed in.

Funny how the HDDs were the only thing that survived.
If you're lucky the CPU might still be good. It is encased in metal after all.
How did the RAM get destroyed though? You'd think they would be fine since they mount vertically and don't weigh much.

the thing was about 50lbs, cpu heatsink was extra bulky and heavy and im guessing when that thing went, it took everything down with it. it literally bent the processor and the housing and destroyed the ports alongside what was in them, the ram ports were right next to the cpu and got taken alongside it. the gpu was mostly snapped off it port too. Basically all the ports and everything in them snapped, cracked or got bent beyond repair.

It had 5 hard drives it, 2 dvd players, and extra fans in it that increased its weight. you would just have to take my word of it, it bounced like a fricken basketball. If I could share that memory with yall I would because only by sheer luck does it bounced the way it did.

sorry though, it just didnt occur for me to take pics, my fingers were really hurting after it dropped

if calling 'still having it' means i need to go out in the snow and dig it out of the trash to take pictures of it then yes LOL, but i promise you its F*CKED and I dont feel it necessary to do it. Even the case wasnt salvageable unless the motherboard is made out of flexible rubber. that was my 3rd PC tower Ive owned and it wasnt store bought or prebuilt so yea, I know when its gone.

the cpu fan was a giant COOLER MASTER brand, im blaming most of the damage done on that thing. so if you ever think you're gonna drop a pc tower, know that the Cooler Master will take everything down with it. And no, the cooler master bent and was not salvageable LOL

Oh well... what can I say.
F

Better luck with your next computer if you happen to get one at all.

I dunno Id keep the ram and graphics card just in case. You said they pulled the pins out, maybe they just broke the motherboard part.

huh the facplate popped up?
did you grab the pc on the faceplate instead of the sides of the case?
