I dont believe in buying games anymore. What I learned from pc gaming.

i dont believe in buying games anymore, been buying them since i was a child, most games suck, you end up spending thousands of dollars that can go to something else. You cant buy every single game out there unless youre rich anyway. You find out that console gaming right now is a total scam with power levels that cannot meet the requirements of how a game was meant to be played oftentimes barely meeting the lowest requirements, same with PC as it seems everything is developed with RTX2080ti ($1200 value) in mind.

There are too many "Launchers" out on PC:epic, steam, rockstar, bethesdas, etc. It really cludders my desktop, i like a clean desktop. But honestly i just like having the physical game, for those that dont know pc games in the past were bought in the store with physical discs and cases, everything is now digital which i hate.

Rebuying games sucks now, i used to not mind it, I even used to think "i hope they rerelease this/that" but now ive seen so many lazy releases that its ust sickened me(mostly square enix). Some games even require modders to basically replace the entire game with modded hd textures and stuff to be worth buying. I bought Devil May Cry Trilogy twice and never played them, Valkyria Chronicles Twice times, Twilight Princess Three times, ocarina of time three times, etc etc. After enough times enough becomes enough. most if not all games nowadays have you read and sign an agreement that basically says that you dont own the game but rather agree to having the rights to play it or whatever it is. Really if they make you agree to that you should be able to own it on all platforms, especially if they plan on going all digital in the future.

maybe im too old for games now...

I really wanted to play them, but the tank controls... and the jump from 480 to 720 was huge. DMC3 was one of the best games ever made for its time too. It was a no brainer buy, buying games online really wasnt a thing until very recent so these game collections were hard to find.

I bought many games many times over hence the "etc, etc" for example, bought metal gear collection twice, all of them separate (including all the psp ones), then the whole package later on. Bought Phantom Pain for ps3, ps4, have it for xbox one from gold pass, but i just pirated the PC one. Have snake eater for 3ds(physical copy) ps2, ps3.

Ive discovered PC gaming, the emulation is awesome and the graphics now are better, there was a point where gamecube and xbox graphics were higher above pc gaming. I'll still buy games to support good things (cyberpunk 2077/ FF7r/ Nintendo) but its hard to even think of buying some of these games from certain companies: blizzard, ubisoft, ea. Its more a badly mis-phrased title.

I'm not a 'normal' gamer so in a way I can agree with you.
Plus I agree that DMC3 was amazing...!
I played it on PC around when it came out for PC, and even though I was playing on a laptop keyboard, it was fantastic.

Gotta find the small indie gems that only you like instead of mainstream crap.
For instance, I played a FREE platformer on steam that was actually really fun and wonderfully funny. Khimera: Destroy all Monster Girls.

lol @sks316 theyve been stealing a whole lot of money with in-game transactions, i wouldnt even call them "micro" anymore. Konami charged $10 for an extra save slot for Metal Gear Survive lol

Eh, better late than not figuring out the videogame industry is going down the shitter.
And it isn't that we are too old for games: it's that games are getting shittier with each generations. Triple ay ones at least.
There's tons of old games ya prolly missed and can play with emulation, eh.

New games are infinitely shittier than older games. All I find myself playing now are randomizers of games I adored as a child

'maybe im too old for games now...'
Perhaps in terms of keeping up with the industry, but bollocks if it's the hobby itself. This old geezer right here? John Bates, 85 years old, is currently in the Guinness Records for most perfect games on Wii Sports' Bowling.

> You cant buy every single game out there unless youre rich anyway.

You can't read every book or watch every movie either. And why would you want to?

> same with PC as it seems everything is developed with RTX2080ti ($1200 value) in mind.

If developers really did that, wouldn't it severely limit their potential sales? Lots of things run just fine on a much older PC.

> It really cludders my desktop, i like a clean desktop.

So put things in you Start menu, or a subfolder in your Start menu.

> I bought Devil May Cry Trilogy twice and never played them, Valkyria Chronicles Twice times, Twilight Princess Three times, ocarina of time three times, etc etc.

Did someone force you to buy these things somehow..?

pc has the same problems as console. For instance a rtx2080s can hit 55fps at 1080 in "Control" with all the bells and whistles, the 2080ti can hit 60fps but it costs $500 more including taxes. Everything else you get inconsistent performance with all the bells and whistles turned on.

i bought a high power pc because i needed one, my laptop can barely run 1080p now and my old pc i dropped was doing the sam e. i build a lot of used parts pc with rx580s/gtx 1060/70s during the summer and i realized i needed something stronger than those.

my point being that a lot of these games arent up to those games of the past hence the frequent rereleases. dont buy a console unless you want to play exclusives or with friends for online. With PC you only have to buy the game once and its usually already the best version. With rereleases on console its the same game but with almost pc level graphics and they charge the same price. A lot of these games on pc they have early access stuff so they sell incomplete games, its horrible. its just not worth it to buy, just go watch a youtube video.

I'm known among gamers as a casual because I choose to buy games that cater to my specific narrative and gameplay tastes. It's a huge turnoff when a game attempts to get me to spend anymore money than I already have. In fact, I'm liable to either stop playing the game immediately or never even consider it an option. Plus, if I can't have a good time in 10-30 minutes, then I am not going to play the game like it's a chore. I have real chores to do! I have real things to spend money on!

I agree that the gaming industry is all kinds of whacky, which is why it's all that more important to monetarily support the GOOD games from SMALL companies. I don't bother with AAA games unless they are for a Nintendo console -- and then I buy physical versions so I can resell the game when I've not played it for a few months.

Well, I have no problems with games, although there is a lot of garbage atm.
What I don't believe in is piracy.

I used to pirate quite a bit as a kid, I didn't know what it was nor the consequences it could have. When I was a teenager I also noticed that by pirating, I was missing out. I no longer had that joy when playing a new game, I wanted it, I downloaded it, I played it.

When the 3DS was released, I bought it day 1 and promised to myself I would never pirate videogames again. Ever since then it's been a long, but happy journey. I feel proud of each game I buy, I look at my shelf, I see all the games I buy and play and I feel content with it.

I mostly buy RPG's and Adventure games, sometimes I'm okay even if it only has RPG elements.

I don't care about graphics, FPS or any of that. I have a decent PC and current gen wise, I own a PS4 and a Switch. I don't really care where I buy a game, although I have always prefered portability over anything else (well, I do have a surround system installed in my room, which works wonders for games like Code Vein).

Point is, there's nothing wrong with the games, people just need to think about what they buy and if they really want it.
Cogito, ergo sum.

Far too many companies are rushing to send out games, sending them incomplete, expecting to update after-sales. These games will become [practically] useless, once the companies servers go down making room for the next-gen; which is happening at an alarming rate these days.,

The games are useless without the updates, which won't be available forever leaving piracy [at least of the update] the only option. When N shuts down 3ds services, where will you get the update for almost every game that needed one, which was almost every game released for the 3ds. Again, from an online site, which is still taboo as far as N is concerned; as indicated by the actions of suing these ROMs sites and such.

I prefer these days to be really sure I want to play it, before buying it and will skip those I know will be available on sale or on other systems later, probably cheaper.

I also feel many of these companies are releasing the digital version first then once the sales level: offer it physical, mostly to increase sales as they know many will double-dip. This is smart on their part, bad for the end-user. to add insult to injury, many are selling the boxes an d insisting on you DL it, leving you with little physical but a box with graphics.
Vote with your wallets.
