So uh, I figured I should come out about this, I'm still very scared, but I might as well get it out of the way.

If you have for some reason been paying attention to my profile, you may have noticed I changed my gender from "Male" to "Unspecified." That is because, I'm bigender.

It didn't feel right saying I'm only a boy, but it also didn't feel right saying I'm only a girl either. I've came out as bigender a few weeks ago to a few close friends and groups, and I've been pretty happy with how I've felt about it. So yeah, I'm bigender, you can refer to me either by he, she or they.

It definitely takes a lot of courage to come out like that, and hopefully it inspires others to do so as long as they're comfortable with it

While I am not convinced bigender is a thing one can be (the definitions I have heard have been incredibly dubious) I hope you ultimately get where you need to be.

I'm also not convinced that bigender is an actual thing, but you do you - nothing bad about being yourself.

I don't really understand this talk of "genders" and how there's more than two. Like, humans only have two sexes - male and female - so is "gender" just a mental thing? Or do "non-binary" people have the body of one sex, but has more of the other sex's hormone than 'normal' - for instance, a male having unusually high amounts of estrogen?

I just don't get it. As far as I know, there's only two sexes, and thus two "genders".

Still, I'm glad you feel safe revealing this on the Internet - where anyone can see it and "taking it back" isn't really a thing.
As long as you're happy, my lack of understanding is meaningless.

Sex is actually a bit more complicated than just the two though and often can be a messy topic. Intersex, for example, is very much a thing. I am intersex (male outside, female parts on the inside,) and that’s only one case of being intersex. I know a lot of people have strong opinions on that matter but their opinions doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
