I lost all of my childhood belongings, and others

That's it. 2 for 2, my parents took my things and shoved it in the way back of a storage space that was packed full so that I couldn't physically get it out when I flew out thousands of miles to do so. Then they lost it. The second half of all of my belongings. All of my childhood consoles. My entire collection of NES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U consoles and games. Peripherals. Everything. Lost forever. I told them I would pay for storage, not only were all my things in there, but I had important paperwork too. Medical documents. Memorabilia.
It's all gone. Everything I've had is gone.

I own nothing other than what is in my apartment room right now. I'm so fucking shook I can barely type this. Life is so unfair.

That's it, I'm done with physical video games. There's no recovering from that without spending $1000's of dollars. I was planning on streaming all my old retro consoles. That's over now. It'll never happen.

My Collection:
Atari, 2 controllers, a couple games
Gameboy Color I got when I was 8, Wario Land 3, Super Mario Bros., Pokemon Silver, Pokemon Yellow
Gameboy Advance
DSi
Little Brother's Dsi with Acekard
3DS with many 3DS games, and DSTwo flash cart with several games I still played on a regular basis
Nintendo 64. 2 Whole Nintendo 64 consoles, several controllers in good condition. A plethora of games, 20+. Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, gold edition. Super Smash Bros., Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie.
Nintendo Wii. I had several Wii consoles as I bought them broken and would fix them. Several peripherals for it, several wii motes.
Wii U. My Wii U that I wanted to stream badly. Had tons of custom content hacked onto it, mods for games etc.
PSP
PS2. Several games. Dance mats. Eye toy.
Dreamcast and controllers
others that aren't coming to mind yet.

Other things:
Expensive personalized plushie from a friend I don't hear from anymore.
My Childhood Pokemon Cards
Old PC.
Nvidia Geforce 1070 Factory Overclocked
Several Hard Drives of family photos and documents (I have these backed up at least)
Few laptops that are not in workable condition but are salvageable.
Several $100's of various tools, computer related and not.
Several Medical Documents
My kid brother's videogames and electronics, toys, memorabilia, etc.
My bike and helmet.

Dude, this is the kind of thing that you bring with you as you're moving out as this is what ignorant parents usually do with consoles and important information like that!

Wow, that sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. I lost all my sketchbooks and art from 3 to about 22 years old about 10 years ago and still haven't gotten completely over it.

not to be insensitive, but this is why you don't use storage. if you have so much shit that you need to pay for external storage, you need to get rid of some stuff

that or you have a house that's far toos mall

@Latiodile It wasn't my choice to use it. Not only did I not want my stuff to go there, BUT I PHYSICALLY WENT TO GET IT OUT. I had to take plane rides and sleep in motels and I PHYSICALLY COULD NOT REACH MY THINGS. They tucked it WAY BACK behind SEVERAL 1000's Lbs. of fucking trash and furniture. Yes, that comment is very insensitive, so preface was meaningless.

I feel very sorry for you.
After our wedding my beautiful wife and me went to the airport to fly to Japan (honeymoon) and what happened?
From all the bags and backpacks we had with us fate wanted it that someone stole my green bag where not only my wallet was in but also my Nintendo Switch.
That's like nothing against what happened to you but it still almost ruined all of our holidays. We ran short of money, I haven't had the time to deal with the police in order to track the thief down as I had to enter the f*cking plane and I was thinking of what happened almost every night in Japan. It was like a nightmare.

So I really feel you.

I think your parents need to reimburse you. I am a collector of mostly nintendo stuff and i know first hand how it adds up. You had prob more then $20,000 in there. They better start writing that check. Shit aint cool. You said they lost it so i'm safe to assume its all on them?

Didn't you have another situation involving your parents and a storage unit months ago? This sounds familiar.

You could try to use this as an opportunity to reflect on your life choices and see if you can improve your situation. Sure, you can blame your parents for sticking up for themselves by teaching you an important life lesson, but in the end, it was up to you to take care of your personal stuff and move those things into a place where you had control over what happened to them.

I know in this day and age, personal responsibility is a trait rarely seen, but we still need to learn to handle the consequences of our own actions.

Sorry about the crap treatment from the parents. Responsibility was theirs, and they let you down. If you take the "only I can be responsible for everything in my life" approach, you're going to go down a lonely and depressing life path. It's not unreasonable to expect your parents to not be that incredibly disrespectful and heartless, so I'd hit them with a bill. Or at the very least, let them know how much the damage was that they did. Don't let them off the hook, stick it to them.
