DSi Midnight Launch!

Last night (Well, a few days ago, too), GameStop called and said my local GS was having a launch party tonight. It starts at 10 PM, due to them having to get all the "paperwork" ready (It really takes 2 hours?)...

I'm bringing my SD card with music (Already converted with iTunes) so I can blast some Devil Wears Prada while being there (The sound quality of the DSi seems amazing in video reviews). I'm also going to be coming home and downloading the Opera Browser and WarioWare: Snapped.

Is anyone else in North America going to a midnight launch?

Comments

I wish. I have to wait to have my DSi 'till my birthday later this month. *sigh*

Lol, blasting out DWP will get you some attention in the shop.

i would go to midnight but the gamestop a i reserved it at wont do the midnight thing because its in a mall and the mall wont stay open till midnight
but im going first thing when it opens though

I'm not going to the midnight launch. But i am going a little early to BestBuy to wait for mine ;)

Not going to midnight party, but definitely picking mine up tomorrow. I'm very excited, and I, too, have a prepared SD card.

I am going to the midnight launch. I heard that GameCrazy will give you $90 off a DS lite when you get a DSi. I wish I had a gamecrazy.

Anyways, 5 more hours for me until I go get my DSi. Pretty exited.

I was just on my way there to reserve mine. The bus I was catching came early so I missed it (I was 3 mins early). The next one isn't for another hour, so I canceled that plan. I guess I'll just wait until a decent hack comes out.

I want to. I would go to the one at Universal City Walk here in LA. IGN and G4 are going to be there. Not to mention there giving out free swag. But the only problem is.... I dont want a DSi.

Imma buy it tomorrow with 40 usd wii points worth.
Buy maybe a protector just incase etc.
But no I won't go :s

Yay I finally found out how much battery its going to have out of the box.

For anyone that wants to know It says at the end of this video. Half Charged.

Lol, I'm in the exact same position. I live in LA and the free stuff being offered at the launch party sounds pretty awesome (have you seen those shirts? So fucking hawt...) but I couldn't care less about the DSi and I really doubt my mom will want to take me so late.

I had my doubts on the DSi.
But this is definitely a great console revision. I cannot wait for the future DSi Ware releases.
The camera should be fun in more games like WarioWare.

Saw a bunch of n00bs outside of Gamestop @ 11:45 when I went to the shopping center. Lined up like little lemmings. Parked, walked into Walmart. Looked at the huge stack of DSis behind the case. Watched my cellphone... 11:50... 11:55... 11:59. Asked the clerk to take out one of the blue ones. Bought it. He handed me a keychain (ordering bonus?) and I was home by 12:15. Oh yeah, driving by on the way home, half the people were still queued outside of Gamestop (they must have only had 1 or 2 people working inside). Suckers.

I went to the launch of the original DS there. They gave me and my mom some bitching shirts. Of course my mom gave hers to me. For the next couples of days I was walking around with "Touching is good" on the front of my shirt. lol

Got back a little while ago from a midnight launch. It was pretty dead. I think there were only 3 or 4 people that bought them tonight. I wasn't going to go tonight, but I was a little bored.

Really nice system so far. I've been pretty impressed.

I've been playing with the DSi for about an hour and a half, there was prolly like 10 people at the midnight launch. Was pretty surprised. Anyway, The DSi is really nice. From the videos and pictures, I thought it looked pretty good but You have to have it in person to see how great it is. Things you dont notice in videos and stuff are how much bigger the screens really are. Its insane. Also things like sound quality and just all the little things. I am also really impressed. For anyone saying that the DSi is a waste or that you dont like it. Please give the system a shot before saying so. Its better than it looks on youtube.

And how would you justify having to buy another flash card just for the DSi, that could potentially become useless?

I don't think hes talking about it from a firmware perspective as much as a system perspective. You guys both have valid points. I honestly think the DSi is worth a purchase. Just not yet. A proper flash cart needs to be released or an exploit be found. Until then hello DS lite.

Yeah I just got back from the midnite launch in the nyc area. And, there were about 10 people there.

I traded my old Lite in at the GameStop for $70 and am extremely happy with the DSi. Anybody still on the fence about making the jump, I would
highly suggest it. This machine is the future. It seems to be MUCH more than just 2 cameras. You can almost see clearly where Nintendo is going with this machine. And, yes this machine WILL be more than likely competing with the Ipod. Those who already own this machine, know what im getting at. The 'DSIWARE' setup will insure that the DSi will make a gazillion dollars. lol

I was talking about Hardware Perspective. This has nothing to do with Flashcards. Its really nice. After using these screens, I don't think I could ever go back to a DS lite just because of how much bigger they are. Thats how noticeable it is at least for me.

@multiboy - This will defiantly not compete with the iPod, its a game system and also only supports ACC. The PSP supports MP3 and that doesn't even compete with the iPod

Back to the DSi stuff, Its really fun to play around with, I only played a game for about 5 minutes so far (Chinatown Wars) and the buttons seems realllyyy nice. The are alot lower and dont really meshh, they actually click and stuff. Cant really explain it. I actually didnt really like how it felt to play it but I think its just because I'm not used to it yet. The WarioWare game from the DSi Store actually made me laugh when they playback the pictures to make a short video. Theres some good stuff.

Concluding things, I would tell people who do not have a DS or have a DS phat to defiantly buy a DSi. If you have a DS lite, it just depends on how you use the DS. If you have some money to blow, just get the DSi, especially since you get 70 bucks off for trade in. Actually, I cant think of a reason not to upgrade unless you..hhmmmmm err well idk, if playing gameboy games means that much to you then I guess thats all I can think of. I was starting to doubt my buying it a little bit at the end but When I turned the thing on, everything was awesome. I expect that a lot of people who didnt think they would like it, will like it if they get one.
