For weeks I've been trying to install a working Majora's Mask patched WAD file to play with my niece.
For weeks, all my attempts have gone to shit, because no matter what I do to my illegally obtained WAD file, it always crahses randomly when cutting bushes.
First patch I made, crashed when cutting bushes after the intro, in the place where you're dropped by Epona.
Second patch I made, crashed when cuting bushes after the intro, in the place with bushes beneath the entrace to the bottomless pit.
Third patch I made, crashed when cutting the bushes that are where Skull Kid transforms you into a Scrub.
Fourth patch I made, crashed when cutting the bushes in the place where Kafei is.
Fifht patch I made, crashed when cutting the bushes in North Clock Town where Keaton appears.
Sixth patch I made, crashed when cutting the bushes in Termina field.
After that, it was a mix of every situation. Sometimes made progress a bit further, sometimes not. Literally lost the count of how many times I've patched Majora's Mask.
Today, decided to try once again... and finally, it didn't crashed when cutting the bushes after the intro, nor in Clock Town or Termina Field.
I screamed "YAY FINALLY!"
Decided to test the game further, and went to the Swamp. There, I saw more bushes to cut. Cut them and no crash! YAY!
Then a fucking bat attacked me. Jump slashed at it... and CRASHED THE FUCKING GAME.
