10 Reasons Why I Hate Christmas

1) Exams: either they are before Christmas or after. I don't know what's worse. Seriously, I haven't gotten into the mood for Christmas in ages. (Edit: because they prevent you from actually enjoying the holidays, and winding down into that mode)

2) Excessive food. I'm asian, so this is one of the few excuses we have to eat ourselves into a diabetic coma. It's not pretty, and it's not awesome. (*I'm a recovering binge eater - eg. I have a disorder with food that makes me want to consume everything in sight during emotional times; and this means the fucking holidays.)

3) Gift wrapping. I always end up wrapping a gift that looks like a monkey that had a seizure ended up wrapping it up in between flinging shit.

4) Line-ups - for bus service, and everything.

5) I'm not out of the closet to most of my extended family, or my mother's church friends - they make me sick with the fact that they try their best to hook me up with some random guys. It's annoying, but sometimes, you just have to suck it up, and smile like a vacant doll. It makes me want to puke up my serving of goose or ham or turkey for Christmas dinner.

6) The cold. I went out to get an energy drink, and I swear I almost froze to death. I was wearing a jacket + a polar fleece vest underneath, and ended up with my gloves under my armpits. Not pleasant.

7) No presents. My family doesn't do presents for any one over twenty, so it means I end up buying something for myself, gift wrapping it (again, with the tape and the gift wrap), and then opening it on Christmas day. Lame, I know, but what can you do? (Last year, I did get a gift card from one of my cousins in recouncilation for stealing my dead grandmother's jewelry out of the house.)

8) The overly PC ness of people. I was just at Walmart, and an Indian customer (not "come to our Casino, Indian") blew up at the manager for having an electronic "how many days 'til Xmas" calender up. It was annoying - but I'm atheist; does it mean that I shouldn't celebrate it either? It's annoying, get over the fact that most holidays don't have the commerical visibility of Christmas at all.

9) I've seen someone steal perishable food out of one of the food bank donation boxes. It's not fucking pretty, or good. The person was pretty well dressed, and made off with a can of something on purpose - and she carried a butt load of groceries that she bought too. I went back and donated a bucketload of soup and baby food after I saw that happen. (On a student budget, no less - it's not pretty, but I can go without some junk food for a little while - at least until after Christmas!)

10) Christmas music! Seriously, I haven't willingly gone out to the mall in ages. It's seriously disturbing to hear a constant stream of christmas music, most of it seriously annoying. (Remember the year Christmas Shoes was popular? I wanted to break someone into little bitty pieces by the thousandth time I've heard it.)

That's not "PC ness", that's "Going to another country and expecting them to play by your country's rules and customs".

Funny thing is, going to India and getting angry about one of their religious holidays would probably end up with you having stones thrown at you.

OMG THAT IS SO FUCKING FUNNYZ!!1!

Does everyone get the joke? huh? Did everyone get it? See he walked into the thread and he criticized foreigners who don't respect the traditions and customs of others AND THEN he criticized the foreigner's traditions and customs by painting them as barbarians.

Oh god I think I pee'd myself a bit. They say two wrongs don't make a right, but... well... um, I've lost my train of thought, but you are a funny dude.

Not quite India, but still.

As for whether or not they're barbarians though, that's your choice. India is more Hinduism afaik, but it's still pretty vicious (as is all religion).

Edit: Actually I take that back about Hinduism, I don't really know enough about it to make that judgement, but religion as a whole is pretty terrible, and last I checked the country was in a rather sad state of affairs.

I just think it's overly PC because you can substitute Hanukkah/another other religious theme into it, and it still works. Some people get rubbed the wrong way when you tell them "Merry Christmas!" It's getting to the point where you have to say "Happy Holidays" in order to please some people.

"That's Canada for you."

Having been in Massachusetts a couple years, I gotta say it's so cold here these days,
I wish I still lived in Vancouver.

I agree, this thread = truth!

1. Take online classes, there are very short or no exams at all.

2. It's ok to pig out once in a while.

3. Never gift wrap yourself, hire people to gift wrap, I do this all the time because I suck at gift wrapping and they get paid for it.

4. Can't say much about this as I drive but if you are flying it can be a pain in the rear.

5. I have sympathy for you on that, I recommend slapping those random men they offer you.

6. I hate the cold myself since I start freezing at 35 degrees.

7. Very tragic and something really needs to be done about that, even I get presents well wine, meat, and cheese from everyone and a video game of my choosing from my father.

8. What idiots enough said

9. That's common where I live, even more common than murder. Some of these thefts are actually kind of hilarious at times but it's still wrong.

10. I despise every Christmas Song aired in stores or on the Radio, it's too corny and repetitive, put some hard rock, metal, and other genres of Christmas Songs, pump my holiday experience up please.

Wow. I've only read a few of your posts but you are one of the most negative people ever on GBAtemp. Scrooge indeed - it looks like you are this way all year long. Be like Scrooge - take a good long look at yourself and change your actions and your outlook for the better.

Ditto to that, I mean how can you hate something like Christmas; you have no idea what you're just type right there! NO IDEA!! I can't explain it to you but you need to take a good long walk and look around you. Not just seeing the festivities nor other media bullshit; I mean look at the people who celebrate this holiday and how grateful they are to do it. Even if your atheist, that's your problem! Hack, all these years I celebrated Christmas from Catholicism to Christianity. Each time I celebrate the holidays, I was thinking about the gifts what I wanted for myself. I remember one time when I was homeless when Christmas came, I celebrated it by doing my family's laundry and boy did I cry since that was my first time to celebrate a holiday not inside an apartment with your family!

To me Christmas is more like buying buying and wanting wanting wanting!! No one celebrate it as Jesus Christ B-day nor as a will towards good men! I'm sorry you're atheist so I won't go all religious on you! What I'm to say is your woes doesn't conflict the majority of people on this planet. You need to realize that you got a home, a computer, and a college education! I'm going to the Navy as a Hospital Cropsman, you think I'm proud of that?! Which I am, in the end I'm grateful to be alive. I'm grateful that I can live to see another day and looking forward towards better tomorrows! I'm grateful that I still living underneath my mother's roof and she's not kicking me out till I ship out to the Navy.

So I regret selling my DS in the end, what's more important? My gaming entertainment that isn't taking me anywhere in life or playing off a ticket that clears off my outstanding receipts so I can join the Navy without any delays!

I don't buy buy buy. I don't buy all of these negative stereotypes of the day, but I love Christmas, just not this year, when it seems my obligations are kicking my ass. I do help out in ways during Christmas (in fact, this year is possibly my first year skipping the Autistic group dinner that I usually help with).

I'm sorry I come across as negative, but I'm just in a weird.

I may not agree with every reason you have for hating Christmas, but I can understand where you're coming from haha!

Though I must say, I love Christmas music, and it's one of my reasons why I love Christmas!
