Dear roommates...

Yes, I know I'm fat. I used to be 200+ pounds, plus I had the puffing, panting otherworldly breath of an overweight bitch. I know I'm fat, it's something I always look in the mirror at - my formerly obese loose skin rolls remind me of that - I can't get away from that knowledge, and I don't want to. (I have to lift them up to wash under them.)

Yeah, I know I have terrible eating habits. I know I have a block of havarti cheese and some shredded cheddar cheese in the fridge. I know I love pizza, cheese and good bread. I was a binge eater - it's hard for you to understand; I have the tendency to eat because I'm stressed or emotionally shit. I'm not bulemic because I didn't have the guts to do things like that. (Or the gag reflex to possibly do it...)

I exercise, and I can sprint up a staircase without puffing like I'm Jabba the Hutt on a bad day. My calves are firm with muscle, my shoulders too, and my back is firm.

You, dear roommates, starve yourself for days with a mixture of fruit, cabbage and then complain that you have no energy and no nothing else.

I know how it is, I tried everything in the diet world. I knew Weight Watchers by heart, I knew Atkins (I still love one protein bar that my local 7-11 stocks.), I got injected with vitamins and fat loss agents in an attempt to lose weight. I even tried the "banana" diet, the cabbage soup diet (oh my god, the resulting gas from that could clear the room), and even the grapefruit diet. The only thing that stuck was fucking exercise. I lift weights, and I jog. I know you women are terrified of looking like a bodybuilder, but it's impossible for most women to build muscle like that - you need steroids and a severe hormone imbalance to fuck up your system like that. I know diets don't work - hell I'm a living example of that...

So, roommates, can you not bitch about my eating habits? I'd pretend the last time you bitched about me eating a whole lot of cheese was just your brain running on empty!

Edit: My roommates aren't that big. One of them wears a size 8, and is my height - 5 foot nothing. (I wear a medium/large and I'm the same height...)

Do you have problems breathing through your nose ? I'm 6 days away from getting a lifelong nasal blockage repaired (rhinoseptoplasty) after learning the devastating effects of mouth breathing. It fucks your sleep, your exercise, your anxiety, etc etc.

@GamerzInc - check my personal photo - it's me in costume...

@yuyuyup - my breathing problems were a result of my massive form. It's stupid, and my roommates were pissing me off royally by suggesting I eat too much. Edit: I think I have a long undiagnosed nasal infection - after using a neti pot for a month, it was much better.

You're right, exercise is the only real option to losing weight. My brothers and mom need it desperately. My mom had surgery, but she hasn't changed her eating habits. I don't know what I can do to help them. They aren't motivated to getting fit or healthy or anything.

I tried the saline neti pot-like thing, but it didn't help me at all. But I don't doubt it helped you. But I have a deviated septum that must be addressed surgically.

Try drinking some of the weird Japanese stick tea I just bought...

If you drink it with every meal, it may very well put you off your food...

@Uncle FEFL - yes - and my question is "why do most women need to find this out the hard way?" I spent a shit ton of money on specialized diets/weight loss plans/doctors to lose weight. I even tried the Dr. Poon metabolic diet clinic - he's a sham, but a specialized sham - you had to have a motivation to lose weight, not some numbers on the fucking scale. What pisses me off is that most diets are "starvation diets"...and it's not healthy. What finally motivated me was the fact that I couldn't be "a loser lesbian", someone who was seen as a fatass and lazy - so I got off my butt and did something about it. Also, I found motivation in the fact that my eating disorder was fucking me up as much as it did - I distinctly remember grabbing a frozen television dinner and eating it half frozen/thawed. Lowest point in my life, seriously. Why don't you involve your mother in something fun like maybe Wii sports? Get her motivated in having fun, and doing something like that. I got into exercise because it was better stress relief than sitting on one's ass and consuming my weight in potato chips.

@yuyuyup - I'm glad you are getting surgery to fix that. I had the hardest time breathing, and a incredibly itchy nose (I rubbed it like crazy as a kid and a teen), and I seriously think it was a bad infection that never went away. (I always had green snot as a kid too.)

@Schizoanalysis - really that bad? I love weird teas - my dorm is always stocked with herbal tea and good tea (I have a Korean roasted rice tea right now...it's really good.). Plus I have "Iron Goddess" tea - I really need to get the loose version of it.

Ever notice that every time the media has said something about fat people - the photo is headless? Really, we "fatties" are a problem for all...aren't we?

Oh -- I had Japanese rice tea, that was nice.

The tea I just bought is made from roasted sticks...
And it tastes like roasted sticks...
An acquired taste, I am sure

Lol. They say that about everything that doesn't taste good anyhow. Like how some people love blue cheese...

I've drank worse herbal concoctions for curing diseases. (Herbal doctors - they look at your body, their rhythms and diagnose you. The "prescription" is a bunch of herbs that tastes like ass - usually bitter and can have weird things in it - like high cholesterol is treated with seahorses (male) and another thing was treated with bug shells (whole)...)

Couldn't you just roast your own sticks for a fraction of the price?

Edit: I just remembered this tea my mother bought once. It was extra fermented (all black and oolong teas are fermented, green tea is the same plant but not fermented). I mean extra extra extra fermented. Like the plant matter that makes up most of the organic matter in dirt. Which is what it tasted like. Great stuff.

Yeah -- or I could just put some burnt cigarette butts in a tea cup... and brew those up -- it would taste the same

swimming for 2-3hours for at least once a week might help burn your fat. I swim everyday ^^

I lift weights about 3 times a week, 2 hours per session. It's a good burn, and my rant is just because I don't look like Twiggy, and the roommates think I'm "fat".

Anyhow, I'm off to donate blood...

I'm trying to loose weight as well. I just can't do it though. Though, I'm not trying hard enough.
I'm walking every day (to the train, from the train to school, from school to the train and then from the train back home) and some times I run as well (in the summer)... trying to stop eating candy and stuff... don't really know what to do next, as all that haven't helped me the slightly

There's tons and tons of diets, regimes, chemicals, supplements, pills, patches, hunger-suppressing air fresheners and accupressure bandages, and of those that actually work, most of them do so at the expense of your health. And you can't avoid a varied diet and excercise. Even the most exaggerated "magical" diet (no sweating, no starving, no hard workouts bla bla blah) has that part in very fine print.
For best results combine this diet with regular excercise.

I could stand to lose a few pounds. Around 20, to be precise

I'm 6'5'', and 211 lbs. I used to work out regularly. I used to lift weights. I did martial arts, until a couple years ago when I tore some tendons and had to stop. So I stopped... and gained 20 pounds. Gradually. I'm not fat (yet), but I'm definitely out of shape  Time for some weight loss.

I walk a lot but that's about it as far as excercise goes. I still can't work out the way I used to (I'm still a bit broken), but I really should take up something easy.

They don't let me roast stuff. Not since the... incident

Love that comic....and yeah, most designers decide that people who aren't tall and thin don't deserve clothing...
