Dear roommates...

Yes, I know I'm fat. I used to be 200+ pounds, plus I had the puffing, panting otherworldly breath of an overweight bitch. I know I'm fat, it's something I always look in the mirror at - my formerly obese loose skin rolls remind me of that - I can't get away from that knowledge, and I don't want to. (I have to lift them up to wash under them.)

Yeah, I know I have terrible eating habits. I know I have a block of havarti cheese and some shredded cheddar cheese in the fridge. I know I love pizza, cheese and good bread. I was a binge eater - it's hard for you to understand; I have the tendency to eat because I'm stressed or emotionally shit. I'm not bulemic because I didn't have the guts to do things like that. (Or the gag reflex to possibly do it...)

I exercise, and I can sprint up a staircase without puffing like I'm Jabba the Hutt on a bad day. My calves are firm with muscle, my shoulders too, and my back is firm.

You, dear roommates, starve yourself for days with a mixture of fruit, cabbage and then complain that you have no energy and no nothing else.

I know how it is, I tried everything in the diet world. I knew Weight Watchers by heart, I knew Atkins (I still love one protein bar that my local 7-11 stocks.), I got injected with vitamins and fat loss agents in an attempt to lose weight. I even tried the "banana" diet, the cabbage soup diet (oh my god, the resulting gas from that could clear the room), and even the grapefruit diet. The only thing that stuck was fucking exercise. I lift weights, and I jog. I know you women are terrified of looking like a bodybuilder, but it's impossible for most women to build muscle like that - you need steroids and a severe hormone imbalance to fuck up your system like that. I know diets don't work - hell I'm a living example of that...

So, roommates, can you not bitch about my eating habits? I'd pretend the last time you bitched about me eating a whole lot of cheese was just your brain running on empty!

Edit: My roommates aren't that big. One of them wears a size 8, and is my height - 5 foot nothing. (I wear a medium/large and I'm the same height...)
Love that comic....and yeah, most designers decide that people who aren't tall and thin don't deserve clothing...
You can leave the "tall" part out of that. "Middle height and thin" is the only size/shape they deem worthy of clothing... I'm tall, with long legs. Finding a pair of pants that fit is bloody murder. And jackets. Don't get me started on those things. Whom are these sleeves supposed to fit, penguins?

@Veho, I'm five foot nothing, and I have an ass. Most stuff that is in stores is made for taller people. (Most of my favourite clothing comes from Hong Kong, where the larger sizes aren't popular and it's made short.) The stuff I buy has to be altered for a decent fit, but interestingly enough - my girl and I wear the same size pants. (Although I've lost a shit ton of weight since then.)

Yeah, one of my friends is 6'2 as well, and she has the hardest time finding clothing that actually fits. (Pants are the worse, as you said...)

How about try this. Ask any aneroexic girl at your school. Hang out with them and hopefully you'll develop anorexia too! Even though that'll be going too far

I don't need another eating disorder - binge eating is already annoying enough! Seriously, it is...

Or hang around really fat people so you seem thinner by comparison.

HA! I want that tee shirt. (*gets out the black acrylic paint and buys a tee shirt from the dollar store*)

'Tis ok. I'm a bit tall and thin. All I eat is junk food and stuff and I'm actually losing weight. Wtf. My metabolism is epically fast.
@Uncle FEFL - yes - and my question is "why do most women need to find this out the hard way?" I spent a shit ton of money on specialized diets/weight loss plans/doctors to lose weight. I even tried the Dr. Poon metabolic diet clinic - he's a sham, but a specialized sham - you had to have a motivation to lose weight, not some numbers on the fucking scale. What pisses me off is that most diets are "starvation diets"...and it's not healthy. What finally motivated me was the fact that I couldn't be "a loser lesbian", someone who was seen as a fatass and lazy - so I got off my butt and did something about it. Also, I found motivation in the fact that my eating disorder was fucking me up as much as it did - I distinctly remember grabbing a frozen television dinner and eating it half frozen/thawed. Lowest point in my life, seriously. Why don't you involve your mother in something fun like maybe Wii sports? Get her motivated in having fun, and doing something like that. I got into exercise because it was better stress relief than sitting on one's ass and consuming my weight in potato chips.
She pukes after every meal. I try to get her to eat less amounts of food, but she doesn't listen. I can possibly let her play Wii Fit when my friend brings it over, she likes it. She works two jobs, so she'll only be able to work out on the weekends.

My former PE teacher was the same way. I'm glad for you. :D Thanks for the advice too.

You are welcome. That's an eating disorder right there - eating to the point of fullness and then beyond. Managing one's diet isn't easy/eating disorders aren't easy to "cure" - but you can help your mother by making her realize some of her triggers. Maybe she's stressed and she's eating to kill it, or she's eating to fill some sort of void in her life. Good luck, and if your mother needs help, I can become one of her pen pals.

diets work, they just need to go hand in hand with exercise. which is something a lot of people don't seem to think. yeah you can lose weight by eating less depending on the way you do it. but if you starve yourself it's going to have adverse effects. the longer you don't eat, when you actually do eat, your body will store more fat. if you simply cutdown what you eat, eat slower or take note of when you actually get full (feeling full =|= feeling satisfied, this helped me lose about 5 kg or so). you'll lose some weight, but thats about it. no change in fitness, no change in lifestyle, no nothing, just a couple kilos.

Start eating healthy, start exercising. it sounds cliche but its exactly the thing that works. i changed my diet, included a lot more greens and fruits than i was used to eating, started to eat in moderation. i used to have fastfood/takeout every second day, i cut that down to once a week. i noticed when i was actually full and stopped meals there. i went days feeling unsatisfied, even so i stuck to it. i made sure i always had at least one type of fruit after a meal. i started swimming every second day. with this i went from 95kg to 62kg~. Now i've put on weight again in preparation for some serious gym. i'm about 86kg now.

though there is also a set back without changing your diet and doing exercise. without the right food, you wont have the necessary energy to really bulk up or lose weight. a majority of your effort will be going to waste. its like going for a run after having a meal full with sugar, you'll feel good for the first few minutes but you'll feel like death on the way back.

Optimally you want to be on a good diet and balance that with a decent amount of exercise. you'll feel loads better for it and you'll notice a few changes with your body, such as clearer&better feeling skin, smoother hair (srsly) and other things like feeling less bloated and gassy. its a huge change.
