Woo hah New Video Card

I just got a GeForce GT 240 1GB DDR3 video card! Sweet. Such a major difference from my Geforce 8400GS 256MB DDR2 card.

I need some games to play. I got Just Cause 2, Bioshock 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Oblivion, Metro 2033, Resident Evil 5, Borderlands, Crysis, and Empire Total War.

Give me some advice.

Hahaha, I just got my 8800GTX card yesterday. :D

I can play NFS Shift at like 16x AF and 4xAA totally maxed out. :P

Which is kinda close to a 8800GTS G92 but with less CUDA Cores. ;)

what card do you have, even my crappy 9250 could run it

I've a GeForce 6150. 128MB of pure suckage. But hey, it was all I could afford at the time, hehe.

Have you tried using the following launch codes?

-dxlevel 7
-high

These have always worked for me... Give it a try!
If they don't work, you've got more problems than just a bad video card.

It should. I have integrated GeForce 6150 on a secondary PC and I can run TF2 great on it, low settings @ 1280x800. HL2 should be a snap.

@Op: Do you have STALKER? That game runs pretty good on my 9800GT, should do ok on a GT 240, depending on what resolution you play on.

And it's 40 nm now right? Either way, it's still better than my 8600 GTS.

Nope, it's 65 nm. ;) Oops, misread your post. ;)

Yeah, it's 40 nm.

I had the worst videocard ever until christmas, at which time I got a Sapphire HD 5770.
Pure awesomeness and using the 3 monitors to play games is just plain epic.

You could afford that Displayport setup? Wasn't it like 500+ USD for all of the monitors and displayport adapters combined!?

you dont need display port
it already packs 1x HDMI and 2x DVI

display port allows up to 6 screens

Oh right. I must have forgotten that after reading the "Six" version of the 5870. Well that would still require 3 monitors then... But it'd be nice to try such a setup one day.

ive got plenty of screens (about 9 CRT's 17")
though my 4870 can only have 2 and i already have a crt on the other and my lcd as main

Yeah...i got a 20" HDMI LCD and 22" LCD hooked up. its sweet.

The comparison to 9800 GT...My GT240 is clock speed 550 vs. 9800 GT 600...and stream processors GT240 = 96 vs 9800 = 112....not very different. But I also have 1GB DDR3 vs 512 MB DDR3....

What choice would you have made? This GT240 with 1GB DDR3 or GT240 512 MB DDR5? There were the same price but I went with the 1GB model. Same clock speed and same stream processors.

actually reading this, it would be impossible to use that combo of outputs unless you had the six version
