Sooooo Boring ....

Man why is it so boring all the time oO

Even at this age where we already have PC's there is still no real entertainment ...

I have more and more games and videos and whatever, still its getting harder and harder to not die out of boredom :(

yesterday at least I was walkin trough town getting me new shoes which helped a little against the boredom but i can't go shopping everyday right ? and it was only "fun" cuz there was a friend with me, sadly most of my friends hardly ever leave their house ... (most of them do not even go to work -.-V)
i think except those guys that are allways drunken or violent/stuid/whatever there is hardly anyone socialising much any more. (even thaught i was totaly surprised seeing so many people yesterday in town oO) (i am one of those guys that hardly leave their hous as well)

now i even have 2 weeks off of work ...

what are u guys doing in times like this ?

I wait for it to pass. Usually, it goes after a day or two and because I find something to do, or I suddenly feel like replaying an old game.

I know the feeling, some days I'll just be F5'ing over here trying to find something to do.

Eventually I just started reading a book (I've had Lord of the Rings sitting on my shelf since forever and I just decided to pick it up) and I'm also getting back into some PSP gaming.

I get that same feeling too, and I get guilty because of all the Steam games that I own. :<

This. Try looking into a new hobby or wanking.

Well i have a hobby, i play table tennis on a "high" level (not much more till i get money out of it ^^ but still more or less noob :( )
but not only do i need a gym and a table + opponent (on a good level) but I cannot do it all the time cuz of my legs, the doc even gave me a sick note on thursday cuz i could hardly walk after i trained 3 days in a row about 4 hours.
before when i was just a complete noob i could play like 10 hours 6 days the week (i was a lazzy jobless good for nothing back than)

Well maybe i should finaly complete some of my games ... dunno if its because of the ammount of the games or the quality, several years before a game could hook me up for weeks sometimes even month (HoMM3 2years) nowadays there is hardly a game i play longer than 2 or 3 days.

Even the new Anime are all not so much entertaining to me ... hell i watch Doraemon because i am bored oO (well ok i like doraemon XD)

We live in an age where every person has access to an unlimited source of information on every subject. Boredom merely indicates that you're not willing to expand your mind or learn anything of merit.

Yeah, but that's kinda boring to do.

This is what's wrong with our society. Every kid wants to sit around spending their all free time rotting their minds with video games and television. Nobody wants to learn anymore. To improve themselves or the world.

We've degenerated to such a point, I'm pessimistic about the future of humanity.

psst, hey guys...pretty sure someone in here has a huuuuge superiority complex.
But I wont, Urza, say who.

Anyways, boredom just happens sometimes. Even when i've got a ton of everything to do, nothing makes me not bored. Which is why god invented jobs. Jobs are boring too, but you might as well be bored and making some cash.

I haven't been in a boredom slump for a while though thankfully. Lots of anime, videogames and my new hobby to keep me entertained. The big thing about being bored is that, even if you don't feel like it, try doing something. I found that a lot when I didn't feel like doing anything, I forced myself to start a new anime series on my list...and found myself not in a boredom slump anymore. Was nice. Works with videogames too, but it's generally harder for me to just up and start a new game when I don't feel like it, unless I for some reason pirated one and never tried it.

I have a superiority complex because I wish our society's youth would take more interest in learning and expanding their minds? God forbid I do something other than sitting silently as others slowly but surely waste their entire lives.

it's more likely that someone didn't want to wash their camel one day so they gave their neighbor a few sea shells to do it...rather than God saying "let there be jobs..."

@OP
you're bored because there is too much to do and you can't decide where to start... should I read a book? play a game? I don't feel like it because there's something better I could be doing...i just don't know what that is...

As long as we (humans) don't harm OTHER peoples lives, I don't see any right to judge a person based on how they spend their life.
I mean, I may hate drugs and alcohol and hell, i'll harp on it a bit. But in the end I really don't give a shit if someone feels like spending their life abusing either substance. It just doesn't matter to me.

Will the world end because of it? Naw. You'd have to be pretty young and ignorant of society to think the world is going to crash and burn any time soon because todays youth plays videogames instead of studying to become the top in their field.

Life is about enjoying it. That's why we're alive. If you enjoy studying and becoming a genius, then do it. If I enjoy videogames, anime and collecting cards...i'll do it.

Passing supreme judgment over someones lifestyle when it is in no way conflicting with others, makes you look like a colossal dumbass.

The whole "and that's why God invented..." bit is just a joke, lol.
More making fun of Christians then anything really.

What are you doing arguing with ignorant twats on the internet when you could be expanding your mind?

I think the issue Urza is getting at is the fact that people rely so much on technology that they are actually getting dumber... if you can just google something whenever you need it, why bother committing it to memory in the first place?

Should this trend continue it's inevitable that we'll become so reliant on the technology that should it disappear, we'd be lost... and yes, there are many ways we could "lose" our tech

No offense but the whole "we rely too much on technology" bit is a bit old.
Literally...you only see older adults making the comment. If it makes our lives easier, it only makes sense to use it. That's why everyone isn't Amish. We "could" lose our technology and be lost, but it's unlikely.
Seemingly, people are getting smarter, and making bigger and better breakthroughs. Technology continues to grow at an alarming rate, and it makes life easier. We will use it, and we will rely on it.
It's not bad or wrong to do so. I think i'm gonna need some examples on how we could lose our technology. That doesn't seem likely to me frankly. I mean, we could somehow lose our internet, or our satellites...or some other things, but we don't lose that technology, it just becomes obsolete and we find new ways to do it.
I kinda feel like I missed what you meant by losing it.

First off, I (and everyone else) retain the right to judge anyone or anything by any set of criteria for any reason. You can personally choose not to intentionally make judgements on others, however that is your own choice and to state that we as people don't have the right to form opinion on or regarding others is quite bullheaded.

Obviously the world will not instantly be plunged into a fiery hellscape because you've chosen not to be productive. I never spoke with such hyperbole, and am not sure why you would infer such from my statements. As the society we are a part of grows more complacent, those with reach promote that complacency for monetary gain. It has led to a slow, but inevitable degeneration or our academia.

There's nothing wrong with fruitless recreation. It should however be performed in moderation, not the "mindless work for 8 hours, mindlessly play video games for 8 hours, now I sleep 8 hours" pattern that is all too common today.

So as to why I publicly voice my opinions: I care. As much as I play the pessimist who's lost all hope in this world, I care that people are throwing away their lives. If my blunt and contrarian posts result in one person re-examining their life, making changes for the better, then it's worth it. If I'm not making the effort, then I simply wouldn't be able to live with myself.

You may not care, but I do.
