Whats up with Today's Cartoons?

Is random really that popular? I swear, I watched some new show Cartoon Network has been showing for a few minutes. Its called "Adventure Time".
I just flipped the show on and here is some yellow dude all mangled up in a hospital bed with the sign "You smell like Dog buns" beside him. WTF are they feeding kids these days? :wtf: Theres is even a show called "The Random Show". And guess what? Its just a bunch of random nonsense. Who would have guessed that??? The fact that kids enjoy this stuff sickens me. Anyone else agree that stuff kids watch these days is garbage?

Censorship has definitely been turned up a notch I've noticed. (Look at some "motherly" reviews for Adventure Time. They're bashing the show for using "psuedo cursing" and saying "sexy" repeatedly. Also don't forget the obligatory "I'm against any form of violence being exposed to my child."). Part of the reason I would rather turn to the internet than T.V. is:

1). Cable/Satellite Viewers are basically paying for censorship. (Thanks, FCC. ;))

2). You are also paying for 15+ minutes of commercials EVERY show.

I can only help but feel it will only get worse with these "Smart T.V.'s". :(

Lol Cow and Chicken DEFINITELY had some mature humor.
I seem to remember a lot of sexual/gay jokes. Though that's mostly because the only guy i distinctly remember is that devil dude.

Exactly. I mean just the fact a devil like entity is in a cartoon would drive people crazy nowadays.
Add the fact that they're sexually confused and you'd get a motherly shitstorm.

personally I really enjoy the newer cartoons, theyre just plain silly.
Adventure time, Regular Show, Chowder, Flapjack etc.
I'm over 30 and i watch them regularly, take as you will seeing as i frequesnt a gaming forum.
What I don't understand is these live action adult swim shows.. do kids really have ADD that much?
im refering to the tim and eric show and childrens hospital theres others just can't remember the names. yes i know theyre not cartoons so off topic but i couldnt help but mention that they make no sense to me .
Maybe i just don't like them BECAUSE theyre live-action, I mean i used to get a kick out of The Brak Show...

Gone are the ancient classics like Bugs Bunny, Road Runner and Tom and Jerry. Back then, characters actually wanted to kill each other. The violence was amazing; bipedal animals carrying sharp axes, dynamites and all sorts of crazy shit to make the antagonist history.

Gone are the not-that-old cartoons that were awesome either way. The X-Men, Spiderman series, Cow and Chicken, Spongebob, were all epic in their own right and were actually entertaining.

It pains me to see kids today watching garbage, thinking they're gems when the real good shit is hidden away in history.

I coulda swore I saw a devil in a recent cartoon. Of all the times I can't remember anything!

But I don't think its so much sexually confused as much as it is you can't make a gay joke anymore. Seriously, make a gay joke = LGBT raid. People get sued for no damn reason and the FCC just bans everything. I'm surprised South Park can still make their jokes...

And I know there are other movements to stop religious jokes, white jokes, and asian jokes on TV but they simply aren't as big.
Another reason we also may not see gay jokes that much anymore is because (For whatever reason) people feel the need to make these characters legitimately gay and say they know these characters better than the creators. The creators don't want to have to deal with that minefield when they're trying to make a cartoon everyone enjoys. Example:

Milhouse Van Houten: The Simpsons
In or out?: Ambiguous
Evidence: Spends a lot of time with Bart, sleeps with Puppy GooGoo, sometimes wears women's clothes.

Bugs Bunny: Loony Toons
In or out?:In/ Ambiguous
Evidence: Frequently wears drag, owns a large wardrobe of women's clothes and shoes, often stands with hands on hips

He-Man: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
In or out?: In/ ambiguous
Evidence: Outfit that no straight man would ever wear, sports a 'bob' hair cut, overly toned, clear use of baby oil

I did lol at this when I read it though.

There was even a petition to make Bert & Ernie a legitimately gay couple. A kid's show.....they've been "straight" for over 25 years, and we need to make them gay? :wtf:
I may just be rambling and I don't mean to offend anyone but that's just what I see. Something has changed between then and now and no its not "Hurr durr fucking religious conservatives messing up others' rights.". They were there when this was going on, and it was unhankered. Something has made people afraid to express their opinions in person. Maybe its the string of lawsuits you hear about on the news because some white guy let the "N word" slip once. Maybe its the Internet with its shield of anonymity and obfuscation. Who knows....

EDIT: Dammit now my brain has decided I need to watch powerpuff girls. :glare:

Metalocalypse?

Any show featuring a fictional melodic death metal band that's the world's 7th largest economy is undeniably, brutally awesome.

Of course, it's obviously not for kids(graphic cartoon violence and sexual scenes and vulgarities, etc etc), but it's still a cool cartoon either way. It's a cartoon and death metal version of Spinal Tap, man.

Not to mention Dethklok does some great melodeath tunes.

I agree the most series from 2011 suck.

I say Bakugan the biggest failure ever. My little brother(neraly 13 years old!!) is addicted to this shit. I hate it.

But back to this topic; som cartoons are pretty good, everything thats on CN(The Dutch one) suck. Chowder, Ben 10 and more shit. Disney XD is more decent with Phineas And Ferb! I love that show really! ;D

Nickelodeon has Spongebob and well thats it. lol I stopped watching most cartoons about a year ago. I play mostly games now. BUT iCarly, True Jackson and Victious are not cartoons and I love to have a good laugh.

Second this. Seriously.
nostalgia is a powerful thing, ed, edd, & eddy was an incredibly stupid show, same with billy & mandy, codename kids next door, etc.

(except Courage the Cowardly Dog, which was awesome)
That show was so awesome.
They still show it on Italian TV :tpi:
As well as loads of other really old cartoons.
Of course the price we have to pay is The Naked Brothers Band and other such shit =-=

Seriously, '90s cartoons were the shit.

Well, I think they mean children's cartoons. Adult Swim is quite funny a majority of the time (I've lol'd a lot at Sealab 2021, American Dad, Robot Chicken when they have it, and they have the upcoming Black Dynamite animated series which looks amazing).

Bring back the good old shows like "Ed, Edd n Eddy", "Courage the Cowardly Dog", Dexter's Lab, Cow and Chicken, etc... Stuff like that!

ed edd n eddy was epic :) watched it all the time when i was younger

Looney Tunes FTW!

Looking at modern cartoons it seems as if BBC's (CBBC) cartoons have a lot more story and moral to them than ITV (CITV).

after ben 10 (young not teen), every cartoon i have been seeing has been absolutely foolish and non sense even the drawings are really off and ugly.
its bcz cartoons are truly cartoons without quality but some random colors flying around.
EDIT: i forgot to mention some good names like batman bold and brave (something like that) which is also great

ofcourse, there were some terrible cartoons before like cow and chicken, I am weasel and others but otherwise most were good even ed edd and eddy had fresh ideas for each episode which is unique.
Kids next door, wow great imagination and although some how spoiling minds (a little like every cartoon can and does) it was still amazing

of course, if u go way back then u get something like scooby doo and tom and jerry and looney tunes that were i can say the ocarina of time and ff7 of those ages. nowadays its just ff12 and spirit tracks which are good but not as good as before.

my fav cartoon was samurai jack which sadly never finished. reminds me of bugs bunny lost in time (and never got out)

Frankly, Some of the cartoons today aren't half bad,

:Phineas and Ferb: Tons of hidden little jokes that can keep anyone interested

:Adventure time: This show, Probably the best thing on cartoon network thats still new.

:Original Looney toons: I Grew up with this, Well, Mostly DVD's of it. Nothin beats Bugs bunny Outsmarting an martian.

Meh, I know there a ton more I'll think of later.
