Giving FFTA2 another chance

So many of you know i just finished FFT. So i picked up FFTA2 again. I dont know why.
I quit the first time cause i couldnt get over the Judges being little bitches and the new laws meaning absolutely nothing, and also being impossible to avoid sometimes (no critical hits, etc)
(Note: I played FFTA first so obviously its my favorite. FFTA2 was second, but it utterly disgusted me. And i played FFT last but i liked it alot.)

So i kinda tricked myself into believing these flaws are ok. I made up some ridiculous story in my head tying all the

FFT centers around a terrible war, the "War of the lions".

So after the War of the Lions:The war was so devisating with all the violence, betrayal, and death, that a council put together a circle of judges to regulate skirmishes and battles. Also, the powerful law magic was discovered/created to make fighting tedious and undesirable out of fear of going to jail for breaking the law.
This system was still present hundreds of years later when Invalice began to be a centralized country for trade and new races began to become common (Bangaa,Moogle,Nu Mou,Viera, and new monster breeds).

I like to think that FFTA centers around the beginning of the end for the "Law/Judge" system. Marche, Ezel and Cid help bring down Queen Remedie who symbolizes and embodies the Law magicks.
The Judges are pretty diluted in A2 because laws are still effective, but being slowly removed. The Judges simply are there to uphold clan bonuses and ensure that Phoenix down and revive magicks can be properly used, as well as

FFTA2 would be only about a hundered years later when the High council is phasing out the Law magic. Most of the legendary whispers about Marche have died down and its forgotten that there was another who tread the land of Invaice after being transported by a magic book.

tl;dr: FFTA2 was terrible the first time i played it, now i bargined with my self and now i think i can play it. Charged with the task of "exploring, have fun, and eventually get back home" i think i can do it this time.

Always good to give games a second chance.
I found some of my favourites by trying games later on in my life.

If you need to "bargain" with yourself to play a game, then just don't play it. Just because it has Final Fantasy in the title doesn't mean that you're supposed to like it.

Don't tell FF fans you said that 0_0

I'm not bashing FF in any way whatsoever. It's just the mentality that "if so many people are enjoying the game, why aren't I?"

I went through something similar with Call of Duty. All of my friends played it, and I never liked it. I thought that I was either playing it wrong, or I had a wrong opinion. Now, I know that it's just not a game that I would enjoy.

The same type of thing can apply to the OP. Sure, he may enjoy SRPGs, but that doesn't mean he is guaranteed to like FFTA2.

Generally, blogs are areas where a person can express his/her own feelings. Maybe Bortz is really serious about wanting to play this game.

If you want more free-fun, the EOF is right around the corner. :)

Same with (don't murder me Ninty fanboys) any LoZ without the number 2 on it. When I played Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass, my first reaction was (with both) "WHY DO I HATE THIS GAME? AREN'T I SUPPOSED TO LIKE IT?". Now I know that I hate them both.

Yeah blogs are serious I guess but I thought you would have translated

As not too serious.
Oh well ^_^

Personally the only FF I can stand is Crisis Core.
But I haven't played any that much and I really need to
give them another go since I bet ill like some of them this time
around. I guess my tastes change enough to like
some games later on in life ^_^

Dude, at first i missed the old FFTA mechanics, but ffta2 is really good, you'll get used to it. Especially some of the newer classes, ravagers are so much fun :D

I really liked FFTA2, but the Hard mode gets surprisingly hard (big shock, right?), and if you play it, some of the sidequests will crush you without grinding or exxtreme strategizing. In my hard mode file I was absolutely dominated in the quest where you have to fight a large group of fusiliers.

Normal mode is really easy, in fact I don't think I ever lost a battle (with one exception), the only quests I failed were ones where you have to use and protect a specific character (I never used Adelle or Frimelda and they were weak), and one where you have to use 3 units to protect a bunch of ridiculously weak moogles that run right into harm's way. The exception I mentioned earlier was at the top of Brightmoon Tower, most of the tower is pretty easy, but then at the top they put enemies over level 90 that move extremely fast and can hit you with status effects and magic. I still never beat them.

READING. I already played FFT.
