Disclaimer: Please, don't get me wrong. I am not judging. In order for me to accept something I have to understand it. I am asking in order to understand.

My question: Why would you mutilate your body by placing a tattoo? I would hate it if someone draws seomthing on my car or wall, let alone my body.
Is there any reason behind it or is it because person X and Y also has one?

Not sure what are you trying to ask. I don't think the answer would be much different from that to "why do you eat chocolate?". Because person X or Y also eats it? Perhaps. Because it helps you remember your childhood or some special time or person? Perhaps. Because you like it? Perhaps.
But chocolate is bad for you™! (at least the one with milk /s).

Decent tattoo though i'd never get anything anime/pokemon/cartoon related personally.

There is 1 thing that triggers me, the ears. Or whatever they're supposed to be. Why is one side nicely rounded while the other side seems to be more boxy?
The black on the left side in general seems to be bigger than the right. I know pulling off symmetry is hard on a tattoo, but eh if you're happy with it

@sarkwalvein I believe that I can explain "why do you eat chocolate?".

Eating for human is essential. We like to eat especially things that tast good. Chocolate tasts good so we eat it. It's all about the tast.

Perhaps, "For humans and any animal in some kind of social structure standing out and forming bonds is essential. Tattoos can be used to stand out and also to form bonds. It's all about standing out (as in identity) and bonding!" (or perhaps something else)

I mean, people don't eat chocolate because it is either essential to eat chocolate or because it is healthy. Yes it is due to the taste, and as they say "every man to his taste", a phrase that transcends literal taste (as in the gustatory sense) and applies to things like e.g. tattoos.
