InterAct Video Game System

Those that know me know that I love obscure video game systems. Today I was out xmas shopping and stopped by a store called Tuesday Morning. For those not familiar with it, they stock all types of stuff from kitchen aids to toys. Today happened to be a 50% off sale for specialty marked clearance items. While I was digging through the clearance shelving I came across a video game system by Interact.

The system includes:
  • 1x console
  • 1x AC adapter
  • 2x "Wii-like" controllers
  • 1x classic video game style controller
  • 1x motion controller add-on
  • 1x golf club add-on
  • 1x baseball bat add-on
  • 1x tennis racket add-on
  • 2x table tennis racket add-ons
  • 1x 8-in-1 sports game cart
  • 1x 32-in-1 arcade game cart
The box explains that the games are 16-bit, and I am assuming that they were designed for this system. I haven't had a chance to power up the system yet, but based on what I read on the box I don't think this system is playing Genesis/NeoGeo games but new "Chinese" games coded for this system.

All of the controllers require AAA batteries and the motion add-on requires AA batteries. I am in the process of charging some batteries so that I can play with this system tomorrow. I'll post another blog entry after I've have some hands-on time with it.

I won't lie, the system seems to be cheaply made. It feels like a typical Chinese knock-off system. I know that the cheapness of a system doesn't mean that the games aren't fun. The reason why I took a chance on this one was because I snagged it for $7.49 USD.

Here is a list of the included games:

Sports: Soccer, Bowling, Tennis, Baseball, Ping Pong, Golf, Boxing, Fishing Master

Arcade: Highway, Tank, Shudu, Fire Man, Lawn Purge, Square, Snake, Boxes, Over Speed, Diamond, Archery, Fighting, Fish War, Shooting, Motor Storm, Zuma (Pyramid), Aqua-mix, Golden Gate, Hammer, Rugged Hammer, Pro Crack, Duel Soccer, ?Harry, Tiger Man, Glass, Smart Bomber, Maze Pac, Apex Gun, Farm Keeper, FAncy, Loop Legeno, Pets Crossing.

I see these systems daily for about 50 riyals ($14)
They aren't bad, but they aren't good either :P

I love these sort of things, although the 'direct-from-China' ones are better. Stuff you find on eBay or such that's a controller with a (S)NES-on-a-chip built in. Sometime's you'd even get direct ROMS with less than even the title screen changed. One of the best was an 8-bit DDR-style dance pad, with 50 or so polyphonic MIDI tunes built in, and completely functional. All sorts of fun.
