My New 2DS XL is no longer with us.

The top screen is busted.

My plan is to get a Steam Deck to alleviate this crushing loss. I don't have any soldering equipment, so turning it into a Game Boy Macro is out of the question.

Sad to hear that, it's unfortunately one of the most common issues with it, you really need to care well for a new 2DS XL.

I still haven't tried to repair the N2DSXL I bought with the exact same problem (for about the price of the installed Mario Kart 7 license). Lying disassembled on the attic for quite long now.
*Sigh*

A difficult task. Lots of adhesive and the spare part isn't cheap. Be smarter than me and take care not to break off the notch of the volume slider.

Sorry for your loss. I have two broken NDS'. Its a brilliant design, but isn't built for the future.
