opinions (a little something extra)

you are fully entitled to your own opinion on anything you want. you are free to state your opinion for others to hear. I will always respect that.

you are not, however, protected from any and all criticism when you state your opinion about anything. if you say what it is, expect people to criticize it. you can't say something like "that's just my opinion" to try and stop others.

if you do not want to be criticized, then please kindly shut up. thanks!

People also have the constitutional right to call you a dumbass.

Though I agree that anything written can be pulled apart and criticised, and it always amuses me when some hold it is not, the "it is just my opinion" line is actually a valid in certain cases, though if your opinion carries any kind of suggestion or reasoning for what others should do it is probably not one of those cases.
For instance
"yellow is a crap colour to paint my bedroom"
Now we could look at the colours of my stuff and bust out the colour wheel, contemporary and classical design manuals, look at my chosen form of lighting*, what I do in there and all that jazz but ultimately it would be my opinion and thus not really open to much.

@FAST6191 this post is more aimed towards those "opinions" that suggest others should do or think something else. it's a response to those who say that "gay pride parades shouldn't exist", or just "it's wrong to be gay", etc, then who respond something along the lines of "it's just my opinion". I do think something smaller like your "yellow is a crap colour to paint my bedroom" example is probably pointless to criticize since it doesn't really affect anyone else.

i want to share my opinion!

3 tv remotes is the sweet spot...

if you own more than 4 you are just crazy.
have 1, you keep lossing it in the oposite side of the room.
having 2, they will end both at the same place.
so 3, is good
you can shuffle around as you move in the room.

so, what is your opinion, how many tv remotes a person should own?

I see where you are coming from, indeed I hoped to make that clear in the opening line of the previous one, I am still not sure it quite applies in your examples. Oh it is a cop out and thus allows you to dismiss said opinion quite easily; state whatever opinion you like but the onus is then on you to back it up with some kind of reasoning (don't even care that much if "my holy dishcloth says so" is the response, though again I don't believe you dishcloth and thus can mostly ignore what it says give or take the stopped clock problem) is how the game typically works. Likewise if your retort is "just my opinion" then you have no basis to be any flavour of offended (seen that before http://gbatemp.net/threads/spoony-reviews-final-fantasy-xiii.339372/ being a favourite from around here).

I am not even all that inclined to stop people from posting under the guise of just my opinion. I would much prefer reasoning to go along with it but gut feelings and the like that you then get to think through and consider is not wholly useless. Such a thing can go to some dark places but if it is just words and discussion then harm is minimal or none at all.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
