The future with 3DS CDN changes reflected in 11.8

11.8.0-41 updated NIM and it sends a ticket when it attempts to download title contents. This is currently the only instance that a ticket is sent, nothing else does (connecting to online services, etc.).

The server will check these tickets to ensure that the system is entitled to the game (i.e. you have purchased the game on eShop). Currently this only affects some first-party games. Soon, all games may use the new protection.

This intends to break all tools that download from the CDN, particularly ones used for piracy (e.g. freeShop, CIAngel, TIKShop, Villain3ds).

Staying on 11.7.0-41 or earlier won't make these work again. This is a server-side change. There is no workaround. You can't create signed tickets like Nintendo does. The age of super easy piracy is over.

Hopefully that clears some things up...

The CDN was just a convenience for people who wanted faster and easier downloads. It's sure as hell annoying, but this won't stop anyone who's determined to get their dose of free games.

@H1B1Esquire because titledb is for homebrew, not commercially available games. some people are re-hosting games separate from the CDN and putting them on titledb. since it's not the CDN, this doesn't apply

@kikongokiller I'm sure it will get some people to stop bothering, since a bit of effort is required now. With piracy tools like freeShop, it was basically zero effort to download a bunch of games quickly. This kind of extremely easy piracy brings some terrible people.

sorry if I'm missing something but does this also stop freeshop from downloading games you own?
as far as it sounds so far it seems like it would be fine but I just wana be better safe then sorry

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is apparently on the 3DS titledb. Seems people are really itching for another freeShop esque solution, but that's not the way to do that...

@ihaveamac Can't say I'm shocked. There's plenty of Virtual Console injects too, which use Nintendo's code.

lol, looks like the tools are dead, villain3ds doesn't work?
the 3ds tile keys website is dead too :(
what method is available for future use? the old fashion one?

you know this isn't the end next phase probably an always on auto ban system for FCSB we'll burn through public seeds like nothing soon
