Seeing the number of the beast a lot lately...

The mark of the beast is 616, not 666.

I've never heard the mark of the beast to be 616, and it's pretty dang clear in the Bible, so dunno what m3rox is on about. And I'm a Christian too, I'm sure it's purely coincidental that you're seeing the number of the beast.

Apparently the original number is 616 in some ancient manuscripts, but in most (if not all) Bibles it'll say 666.

I don't want to quote Wikipedia as an authority, but hey. The info is there. Anyway, if Iron Maiden say it's 666, it is 666

If you did a little research you'd know that 616 is the original number for the mark of the beast, it was later changed to 666 for some reason. If you don't know this basic info, you are not a true Christian.

You are a true idiot. Calling in doubt someone's spirituality; on an arguably, insignificant number is ignorant and juvenile. In no way does not knowing 616 not make a Christian. Your faith in Christ does. Its obviously still debated whether it's 616 or 666 and claiming your opinion on the matter as fact is bullshit. Why don't you go to hell and ask the devil yourself.

Aha, if you're gonna be critical, just leave well alone. Contesting your views is one thing, but you're being really up your own *ss about it - however, I agree that a few numbers is nothing to get bothered about.
And I apologise to m3rox if I sounded like I was insulting your intelligence when I said I hadn't heard anything about 616, I was just puzzled as to how I had never heard that and you said it like it was common knowledge.
Why do people need to attack Christians beliefs so violently? I understand there will be disagreements, but you can't expect to be taken seriously if you just rant and rave at us.

Definition of 'Christian': "a religious person who believes Jesus is the Christ and who is a member of a Christian denomination."

I'm not Christian though I have read the Bible from cover to cover and studied the religion nearly an hour every day for the past two years as part of a course I chose to participate in.

While I think Jesus was a cool guy and I love his ideals and beliefs whether he was a real person or just a forward-thinking character in an ancient novel I don't think a true God would wreak havoc on something he put so much effort into creating, over what I see as petty things.

It's like me boiling all my sea-monkeys because they're not loyal to me and me only.

Coincidences like this play on the human mind simply because of our need to see patterns and order when there are none. Think of all the numbers you see day to day, how many time you see three numbers together and don't think twice about it. It's like when the phone rings and you go "Wow, that's really spooky, I was just thinking about you!" But you don't remember all the times you think about someone and they don't phone you, or all the times someone phones you and you weren't thinking about them or thinking about someone else. Likewise, you don't think of all the numbers you've seen, on your xbox or otherwise which were NOT three sequential sixes - or even the surrounding numbers. If you were a person with a superstition about the number 13, or lived in a country where different numbers had a negative significance (Like four being the number of death) you could have looked at all the numbers you've seen over the past few days and seen the number 4 or 13 come up lots.

^ Listen to this, probably the most constructive thing said today. You really don't have to worry about numbers like that, I say that from my Christian view because in society today stuff like that is going to pop up and it's not the end of the world (yet...). It is really nothing to worry about, and you'll definatly know when those numbers mean anything
